Ok so we know that Philbin wasnt exactly the front office's prime candidate for the head coaching stint here. Personally i'm happy with him and the bonus is that we possibly have one of the best OC's in the league that he brought in. Sherman is definatley an upgrade over what we've had in the past, and i wonder how much Packer's history had an impact on him being here. Sherman is a Superbowl caliber head coach, and all of my NFL buddies are scratching their head over why he's our OC. Is it a Packer's thing? I'd like to hear everyones thoughts on this.

Also, I really enjoyed watching our passing game, especially considering what receivers we're working with. Play design looked real good to me, and the uptempo hurry up was even used in pre-season.

Philbin and Sherman are very close. Sherman taught Philbin in school and was his teacher. Sherman also gave Philbin his first NFL job.

Actually IMO, Philbin was an overwhelming second choice after "Mr Mediocrity" Jeff Fisher.. and thank heavens that didn't happen.

Fisher with Gregg Williams and Brian Schotennimer would have been a disaster

I think that Philbin is an upgrade on Sparano but I'm not so confident in Sherman. There is a reason why he was cut by Texas A & M, even though he did a great job developing Tannehill. Clearly, Philbin and Sherman are comfortable working together but sometimes it is good to venture beyond one's comfort zone.

we didn't really show anything and we shouldn't in the preseason anyways...other than game 3...very vanilla looking stuff so too early to gauge sherman as an nfl oc...by the bye week we should be able to though

There is a different skill set between running a college football program as a HC and being a NFL OC. I think Sherman's pro record has been good and I like what I see out of the offense so far.
