First, I want to thank all the fans on this site. It's such a great place to come and vent and get some good information on Miami football. Love the experts on the draft site as well. Here are some of my thoughts/concerns with two games left in the season.

What a Difference a Week Makes
The Miracle in Miami was such a feel good story for this team and we all hoped a spark to finish the season strong. The Dolphins went toe-to-toe with New England and found a away. A week later, the fire Gase posts start again as Miami lays a stink bomb in Minnesota.

Why the Inconsistency?
I know it's partially the nature of the NFL, but why are the Dolphins so frustratingly inconsistent? I know we can blame injuries, the poor play of the offensive line etc. But, there are a number of games where Miami just doesn't seem prepared or ready to play.

Get Physical!!!!
A lot of us have been saying this for some time. Miami doesn't match up with physical teams. The Dolphins have to make building the defensive and offensive lines the priority this off-season. The good news is the draft looks strong at defensive line, especially at the tackle position.

Frank Gore
What an amazing career. If he is truly retiring after this season, I can't say I blame him. What else does he have to accomplish other than winning a super bowl? That's obviously not happening in Miami next year. Definitely a player I'd love to see return.

Coaches
Despite my frustrations, I'd like to see Gase get one more year with an improved offensive line and an experienced defensive coordinator. Burke has had some success against New England, but overall I don't like his scheme (the wide 9). Admittedly, he doesn't have a lot to work with but I'd like to see the Dolphins find an experienced DC who has had past success.

Gase will get another year.

But I bet Burke gets torched. Whole damn fan base wants his head on a pole. And the wide 9 wasn’t his; he inherited it from Vance. Burke has just kept it rolling (off a cliff).

I suspect Burke will be fired, soon. As in two weeks from today. Lots of dead weight on the roster as well.

A return to a base 4-3 would be very nice. Oh yeah, and maybe a DC to run it.

Tannenbaum may be squirming a bit as well.

My thought sitting at 7-7: ****!

This entire FO and coaching staff perpetuates mediocrity and absolutely needs to be canned after this season.

Miami as a whole chokes in big games and can't win on the road. That starts with the coaching staff.

Don't let Gase and company leverage this team's future when they're desperate. It won't work out.

As far as Burke's future with the defense, I have a hard time condemning this season as a failure.

I know we have given up an extraordinary amount of yards but weren't we near the best in the league in points allowed at one point this season?

Also the huge jump in turnovers, particularly interceptions, makes me hesitate to replace Burke. I believe we are top three in interceptions this season and it would be a shame to give up those game changing plays.

Do the turnovers offset the amount of yards allowed? Tough question to answer. Would these players create turnovers regardless of scheme or coaching? Another question that is near impossible to reach a consensus for.

My thoughts are this team doesn’t deserve to go anywhere but the draft and that’s the kind of loss where heads roll.

I’d expect an off script qb add in the draft for Tannehill at least. On script isn’t doing anything for you vs that yesterday. So counter it and see what happens.

Right now it’s just get the season over with and look to the draft

Can’t really say I’m shocked we are 7-7 as most of us predicted 7-9 or 8-8. What’s crazy is that this feels like the same exact team we have watched for 10 years. Same holes, same weaknesses...stuck in purgatory. Gonna need a major shake up to snap out of it

Seems we've been there before.

And before that.

And...

I felt like they were a 6-8 win football team before the season. Shocking...

I've said it before - I've never been around many coaches that believed small and non-physical was a recipe for winning football. I'm a little suspicious of Adam Gase here.

Sitting at 7-7 just makes me more angry that they couldn't close out the game in Cincinnati, got beat at home by an even worse Lions team crawled up into a ball when they should have won in Indianapolis.

On their way to 8-8 and 24-24 in Gase’s career (0-1 in playoffs obviously).

I suppose it could be worse by winning three or four games a year but at the same time if that was the case then they would have possibly had a better chance at getting better sooner with high draft picks.

Not the worst and not the best. That’s our motto baby!

I would like to see Gase come back for one more year provided that the Dolphins embrace the decision recently adopted by the Ravens and Jaguars. Those teams moved on from starting QB's that they knew were no longer the long-term answer.

Tannehill is not the long-term answer at QB. Let Gase have an opportunity to develop "his" QB as well as hiring new coordinators. If Gase insists on calling plays for Tannehill next year, then the Dolphins and Gase should part ways at the end of the season.

Better question is turnovers over points allowed. 27 points or more allowed in 9 of the last 11 games. So, no. He runs a wide 9 which is supposed to generate a pass rush. We have a pass saunter. Just pitiful. The guy 100% needs to go. And should have gone last off season, it was so clear.

There seems to be some debate here. I'm in the camp the team has talent. As a few have said, swap OC/DC with any 7-7 team or above and Miami is 8-6, 9-5 and in the playoff driver's seat. And that's WITH all the injuries.
One thing I think is unanimous here is the anger at the inconsistency. I have no idea how that happens. SO common, I think most here expected it.
I think Gase would be OK as HC, *IF* he would hire an OC and replace Burke with the first name drawn from a hat. I can't be the only one watching Miami get to LOS with 3rd and 9 and scream 'PLEASE NOT A SWEEP.' Yep, it's a sweep.
I predicted 8-8 so, whatever happens, I was close. BUT, that's my frustration. I predicted 8-8 with Sitton, Taylor, Tank repeating '17, Wilson, Grant, and others.
Here we are, game 15 coming, and I still see confusion in the D prior to the snap.
