Three expected to be offered extensions

did Vontae get a longer deal when they came in together? it should be obvious that he's more important than any of the three mentioned

Keep Starks and only Long if his body is holding up. Everybody else is mediocrity embodied and can take a hike. Hartline and Smith don't deserve anything more than short term, reserve player money if we keep them.

I think a lot of people under value Hartline..all the guy do is catch the ball...Period, and he beats his one on ones constantly.

smith is not a "very good cover corner" i have no idea why people keep saying that but he's not...he couldn't handle a legit #1 wr if his life depended on it...

I believe Long should be a priority. We are just now getting the line set to be solid and it would be a disaster to have to replace him.

imo we grabed 2 guys that have played LT quite a bit in college and played at RT soooo if something dose happen to Long im sure we didnt pick up both guys to play LT behind big Jake , i think we have a bk up plan in place just in case big jake wants the whole plate.

Those who say that Long may be gone & should be replaced dont really know football. yes he makes a lot of money, but being one of the best 3 players in your position in this league, then you expect that he would get paid accordingly.

If Bush has another big year, i can see him possible being used as trade material, but I would rather see him stay. Hartline is a very good number 2, and should be kept. fasano is on the bubble, as is Smith.

He must be a consistent 1000 yard wr, with 80 catches a season then right?

Nope.

This is the easiest decision to understand. Hartline, Starks, and Smith have delivered when asked. They are not viewed as top 20 at their position, so the contracts will be reasonable. Each of them are perfect core players. GM's love these type of players.

what about long , bush and moore

what about long,bush and moore
I've seen reports where Ireland said he has the option of franchising Long next year if he has to which tells me he may have negotiated with his agent already just to feel each other out...but that contract will be a bit more complicated than the rest of them given Long is the highest paid player on the roster.

Bush...I'm not sure we bring him back. It would depend on the kind of season he has, he has to stay healthy obviously, but we have Daniel Thomas and Lamar Miller and while neither one of them have the receiving abilities (right now) of Bush I think both have a lot more potential as ball carriers than Bush does. I'm not real happy with Thomas but I'm interested in how well he'll do in a ZBS since he is a pretty good cut back runner with good vision.

Moore will have to beat Garrard IMO to get an extension. I would think that the winner of the QB derby (which I think is between Garrard and Moore and not Tannehill...they might say Tannehill is in it only to make him push harder, that can only help his development, but he's not ready for the speed of this game and Moore/Garrard are much more ready at this point) will get offered a contract extension. According to Philbin he has liked what he's seen from Garrard and I think this competition will be a lot closer than people think. Moore has been known for not being a very good practice player but better in games, Garrard is pretty consistent in practice and games. It's going to be very interesting.

Don't see much proof of Hartline beating one on one coverage consistantly. He's been the #2 receiver here for the last two years with Marshall lined up next to him drawing all the coverage and last year he only produced 35 receptions and he has 1 TD in his last 26 games. He does a good job of catching the ball when it's thrown his way so that would indicate he doesn't beat one on one coverages as often as some might think and he certainly doesn't do much with the ball after the catch with only one TD. I don't remember the last time he took a short pass and turned it into a game breaker...maybe once in his rookie season.

I think this season will be a huge season in his career. If he shines, great, then we've found an offense that's a good fit for him but if he fails to produce my guess is he'll drop to 4th or 5th receiver or be released as the Dolphins will draft a receiver capable of making big plays in the passing game in the mold of a Greg Jennings. It's really going to be a big season for a lot of guys. Time to stop talking about potential and start playing at a high level. Guys like Steve Smith, Koa Misi, Chris Clemons, John Jerry and Brian Hartline are going to be on a season long tryout...if they all make the team.

I can agree with this but if you put him on tall receivers then he can shut them down. Not to mention he destroys TEs and in a division with the Pats that is a commodity. Plus he can take away that fade route in the red zone. While he may never cover #1s (he's too tall an can't stay with them in and out of breaks, I know you know this) he has his uses, and we should be lucky to have someone with his skillset.

I want us to follow the Giants/Packers/Saints philosophy of having a bunch of dynamic playmakers both on the outside and at tight end, with a quarterback who can distribute the football accurately. Brian Hartline is not dynamic, almost any receiver in the league can do what he does. He can be easily replaced by a player of equal value, and I'd much rather try to find better offensive weapons... Right now we have none basically.

I'd give Sean Smith 1 more year, or try him out at safety or something. If he still doesnt pan out, he's dead weight to me. Guy has been burned WAY too many times.
