Except he can’t draft in the 1st round for ****
Since he became the Teams GM in January 2016 Grier’s first round draft picks have been:
2016) Laramy Tunsil
2017) Charles Harris
2018) Minkah Fitzpatrick
2019) Christian Wilkins
2020) Tua- Jackson-Iggy
Tunsil and Fitzpatrick have been pro bowl caliber players the past two years even though they earned those honors with different teams. Yet they have proved they were excellent first round picks by Grier.
Harris is obviously the one major error Grier made in the first round. Harris was drafted much too high and I think we all recognize he was a first round bust.
Wilkins has been a solid player so far for the Dolphins and his play improved from year one to year two. It is too early in his career to determine if he will live up to being a first round pick but I think he was a solid pick at the spot they selected him.
It is much too early to evaluate the 2020 draft. Tua ended the year as the starting QB and Jackson became the starting LT almost immediately. They both had their ups and downs but with no training camp or pre season games last year and Tua coming off a major injury, I still think their selection in the first round were good picks.
Iggy was a questionable pick in the first round IMO and he obviously wasn’t ready to play in the NFL last year. Hopefully with a full training camp and pre season games, he will develop into the player they hoped he would become when they drafted him in the late first round.
So basically since assuming the GM position in 2016, Grier has drafted 2 pro bowl players, 1 solid defensive tackle, a complete bust, and three players last year which only time will tell what they develop into as players.
I honestly can‘t see how these first round selections equate into your opinion that, “he can’t draft in the first round for ****”. I actually think he has done a good job of selecting players in the first round since he became the GM, except for the Harris pick.
