...This looks to be our toughest test thus far. 2 teams going against eachother after shutting out their previous opponents.

Pennington has looked very poised and capable in his last two games but how will he and the OL cope with the Saints?!

NO racked up 458 total net yards against the Bengals, (ok there D is crap) but how will our young core come up against Brees and co?!

Jeremy Shockey might get his first showing in a NO shirt too....

I'm looking forward to seeing how we go on against these guys, but with it being the last pre-season game, how much time will our 1st team play?!

Thoughts?!

Both Jax and KC are run oriented teams. Once we stopped the run, we were set up great. The Saints are more of a pass oriented team and we need to see how we do against that. It should be interesting.

Exactly.

We will be dealing with speed backs and a pass offense. Lehan and Will Allen need to show up strongly.

Don't expect the Dolphins starters to play long, if at all. I wouldn't be surprised if Sparano sits the entire starting Offense and Defense and lets the young bubble players just play.

Henne may start this game.

Yeah, wish this was our 3rd game. This would have really showed where the D was at.

The 4th game usually isnt a good test with the starters not playing most if not at all.

We may even see Beck play a little more than a kneel too.....

bingo. were mailing it in and parcells has been looking at tape of B-B-B-Brett and the Jets. I predict guys like Ninkovich,Hilliard, Armstrong, Camarillo, and special teamers get a lot of PT. First string Oline will play a half however IMO.

I'm just hoping we continue our recent form. As long as we don't get a heavy beating, we want to be going into the Jests game full of confidence...

Starters will see a quarter maybe. It's time to get ready for game one of the regular season.

This game will be completely meaningless.

The starters will play MAYBE two possessions each. This last preseason game is the MOST meaningless of all of the preseason games. The 2nd half will be both teams playing almost exclusively guys they know they are cutting, just to avoid getting anyone injured that will be on the 53 man roster.

Its common knowledge that preseason games this weekend that were just played are the "dress rehersal" games where most starters play after halftime and into the 3rd qtr. Just ask Denny Green .

The game before that one, is fairly signifigant, but not much. The first game of the preseason is even less signifigant, but still more so than the last one.

Basically if you want to get any kind of read out of the preseason....always look at the 3rd week(the weekend just played). Maybe a lil at the first half of the 2nd week. From the phins standpoint....I like what I see. No team has even scored on our first team D. I like it.

But, anything that happens in this last week you can throw right out of the window. It just isnt relevant.

To me good coaching comes down to knowing how to get your guy's ready to play good teams and bad teams. This coaching staff has to settle these guy's down and get them to focus on NO. I know it's the last game of pre season, but winning is what we need regardless of who starts and who doesn't. I want this team focused and prepared for NO Thursday night. If we come out flat, slow or disinterested then I'll be disappointed. I want this new staff to have this team ready for any game big or small important or not. That's how you know you have a good team.

This game is for bubble guys and maybe showing off some slightly possible trades. Rod Wright may face a number crunch. Ninkovich showed some good stuff and they may want a serious look at him. I think you are dead on w/ the good coaching bit, but that coaching and practicing to be great will be for the NY JETS IMO.

Nubs, I was just about to post the same thing until I read further and saw your post. However, I expect NO to do the same and protect their #1's. This will be an interesting game to see our depth against their depth. Since everyone's fighting for a job this week before final cuts, we'll definitely see some good hitting.

This week, being a short prep week, will tell us just how much BP and the gang needs to turn the bottom third of this roster.
