Thursday's Game in Gainesville

Do any of you guys know where there is a sports bar or place where I can watch thursday's game in Gainesville. I know back in South Florida, they are showing the game locally, but sadly, we will not get that same luxury up here and I don't want to watch it through some crappy feed on my computer.

JP Gators, Calico Jacks, Jewels, Beef O'Bradys.

Pretty much any sports bar there should have it. I used to go to JP Gators or Calico Jacks back when I was a student at UF from 2000-2004. GO GATORS!
 
depends on how crazy and/or classy you want to get. if you want to keep it kosher go to a place like CJ's or o'bradys. if you want to get nutty and drink for stupid cheap go to gator city or balls. balls is the most dirtbag bar on the planet - you have to go at least once just to say you went. it's a rule.
 
LOL, Balls. That dive is still there, it is in my top 5 biggest hole in the wall bars that I have ever been too. :lol:

Man college/UF was too much fun. I pretty much got hammered everywhere in Gainesville.

you and me both man. we used to call salty dog, gator city, and balls the trifecta in college. somehow we ALWAYS ended up at that dirt hole balls at the end of the night.

funny thing is, i've been to 4 home games this year - and the same balls bartenders are still there some 5 years later. awesome.

i think it just looks shut down - has for years. i was up there a few weeks ago and there were still cars in the parking lot. who knows though.

it's sad how many bars up there have shut down in the past year. downtown is a ghost town. damn shame.

you live in oakbrook or those apartments right behind JP's? i lived in kirkwood for a few years way back when.
 
Dont go to CJ's...unless your going to get oysters. Best place to watch football is Gators Dockside, man I miss my 9 hour Sundays there...
 
It's too bad Joe's Deli shut down a few years ago. It used to be THE Dolphins spot in town and had good hamburgers and (I **** you not) $1 pints.

One dollar! For a pint of beer! Huzzah!

But sadly, they closed. The best places in town now are Gator City, Dockside and Calico Jack's. Dockside you have to get to early, Gator City has lousy projectors and Calico Jack's is just kind of a ****hole.

You actually might want to try Mother's Pub on University. They have a bunch of TV's in there now and it's a true drinker's bar. If I still lived in town it might be where I went, even though I think the owner is a Steelers fan. But, again, you have to get there a bit early (the better to get drunk with, my dear).

wow a joe's fan. probably saw you there - managed that place for 3 years. you can thank me for the draft beer prices - my idea. that place shut down about 5 months after i stopped working there. i guess they needed me more than they thought.
 
I don't know where you live in Gainesville, but I'm right off 34th and Williston. I'll be watching the game at my place tonight.

I'm pretty sure Mother's will have the game on tonight. Best place to go in my opinion. Big HDTVs everywhere you look. But it will get packed since it is Thursday. Also, the Ale House on Archer will be showing it, tons of HDtvs too........

And I'm sure every bar in town will be showing it since there really aren't any better games on tonight

But remember, if you venture into "downtown" - Thursday starts weekend for college students so it will get packed

Haha. Yeah, I probably did see you there. I was there for most games not broadcast on local TV from about 03 to 06. Bacon cheeseburger and a beer (or seven). That's where it was at.

So yeah. Thanks for the cheap beer. The big guy who bought it really didn't seem to get it. The place needed new decor and a new TV. But oh well. I don't live in Gainesville anymore and now have Sunday Ticket and can have bacon cheeseburgers and beer at home.
