Gotta take little steps first....but very encouraging.

The Dolphins are on the verge of a true sellout for their season opener, and are expecting crowds that top 70,000 for at least the first three home games.

Season-ticket sales figures are up, too. After selling a shade under 42,000 year-long passes in 2013, they’re now close to 45,000 for 2014. One possible explanation: the Dolphins now market season-ticket ownership as membership to a club, inviting those members to private events throughout the year.

As for Sunday’s opener against the Patriots, over 72,000 tickets have been sold. The team is releasing a few hundred lower-level tickets they had held back; those interested in purchasing one are encouraged to visit Dolphins.com.

70,000 for the first 3 games is huge :brewskis:

Pats and Packers are a gimme. I reckon that a lot of Packers fans will be there. KC is a little bit of a surprise.
I think we will have a good indication of fans returning to the Dolphins when we face the Chargers in our 4th home game. In the past that game would have had a lot of empty seats. If we run a sub 500 record that game will be empty as well. If we sell above 70k we are doing good.

The Dolphins have done a great job with the membership packages (though I missed the yacht party yesterday). They also have done a great job in communication with a constant information flow. The rise in season tickets (memberships) does surprise me after years of misery on the field. It is a small increase but I would definitely assign the credit to the Dolphins and the revamping of the season ticket plans.

After years of falling season ticket numbers (10+ years ago we were somewhere around 60k) the small increase is actually a huge step forward for us down here.

The rest is up to the team.

The marketing side of the Dolphins has improved significantly. I know that everyone on here is just focused on the football side but it is good to see the business side under President/CEO Tom Garfinkel has also improved.

Would I love it if in the Pats game, this happened to Brady...

Good news.....I hate seeing a lot of empty orange seats.

Awesome! I want to gear that crowd roaring and Brady struggling to get his audibles called, and feeling faint on the sidelines from the heat. Chase that ****er all over the field and put him on his ass over and over. We get Brady rattled and we win, that simple. Go phins fans! Make their ears bleed!

How many of the tickets are sold to bandwagon Pats fans?

Pathetic that our stadium holds 76,000 people and we'll have 70,000 fans there. 6,000 empty seats at a home opener vs. a hated division rival??!!! The game should have 76,000 fans there!!!!

Probably a bunch. Can't prevent that.
It's funny you say bandwaggon Pats fans. Back in the 90s you could count them on one hand in the stadium. At least Bills and Jets fans have that loyalty factor going and are always present in good numbers.

Can you read?
It clearly says that only a few hundred are being released and the game will be a sell out.

Won't have that problem in a couple years though. After the remodeling the stadium will have a capacity of 65,000.

I've heard the Media declare sell outs before and saw tons of empty seats. It's just that the Media decides to show the stadium when it's empty but about mid 1st qtr you won't see a shot of the stadium when everyone is seated. People hang out in the concourse at kickoff because it's so hot.

Hell, they don't even stay when they're losing NOW...can you imagine once they really start declining?

They really came out of the woodwork after the 2001 season. It's pretty ridiculous.
