The average Dolphins player loses three to five pounds during each practice. Players are required to weigh in at the start and end of sessions and strongly encouraged to monitor their urine color to check for signs of dehydration. The team even brings in speakers to address the subject.

"I've put six pounds on so far," said Beasley. "I'm drinking a lot of water and Gatorade, but it's hard. All of the guys were literally drained. Almost the whole team was getting IVs and the sun wasn't even out."

"That's not an uncommon circumstance," Miami Dolphins head coach Nick Saban said. "I don't care what kind of condition you're in or where you practiced this summer. You didn't practice in pads. You didn't have the headgear on. You weren't lugging around gear. So there is an acclimation that everybody has to go through."

"You try not to think about (the heat)," Miami Dolphins OT Damion McIntosh said. "You know it's there, you can't avoid it. I'm going to use this to my advantage so when it really counts you already know how to take advantage of the situation."
 
its only water weight..those 9 pounds come right back

True, but it's not what you think.
Most of it is all water weight.
rehydrating brings most back.
 
I'll take losing 9 lbs of any type of weight. I just won't drink.
