Tight End

So, you are of the mindset that we can only draft OL with the 1st pick, no matter what? Even if it requires reaching for a player and passing up playmaker TEs, LBs, CBs, Ss, WRs, etc.? That's pure desperation and poor drafting. As much as it may pain some to hear, we have more holes than just OL. If one of the stud LTs drops to our spot, by all means, draft him. No need to reach.

Regarding TE, people sure are counting on Keller's return. Do you understand what happened to his knee? He tore 3 of the 4 ligaments in his knee AND dislocated his knee. First off, he's not even resigned at this point. Second, there's no guarantee he can return next season. Lattimore returned more quickly than expected from the same injury, but he was younger with less wear. In other words, I wouldn't count on Keller for anything. I'd like to resign him for veteran depth, but that's about it.

You're right. Desperation is no way to draft but come on, we have a choice? Call it panic, desperation- it needs to be done. Just because its not the way it should be doesnt mean its not the way it has to be. We dug this grave and laid in it this year. Learn from the mistake. Fix the problem. I understand what your saying. If its not there its not there. But we have to force the issue. Make it happen. Fix the problem. TEs, LBs, CBs, Ss, WRs are not the problem. Can they be upgraded? Absolutely. Were they the problem?

To leave ourselves open in the draft as you would like, you have to go get two quality, starting OL in FA. Thats the only way. What kind of sense would it make to fuddle around, "Weeell, we shouldnt over spend. Weeell, it didnt fall for us in round 1. Weeell, just doesnt make sense value-wise round 2"? No.

I believe your frame of mind does us a disservice because, while its a good one, its not the right one. We have ONE very BIG problem. Why keep an open mind instead of applying a stubborn one? Lets become fixated on it. Why not? What does it hurt? Really think about that. What does it hurt?

We were 1 win away from the playoffs, folks. 1 win. We were robbed vs Baltimore. Straight up robbed- dont care if the almighty himself tries to tell me otherwise. Our kicker started kicking as goofy as he looks from one day to the next and lost us a game. W-e. A-r-e. A. P-l-a-y-o-f-f. T-e-a-m. If we get a GM in here that thinks otherwise and tries to start solving anything other than the OL first and foremost then kiss that goodbye. And thats what weve been doing in South Florida for the last decade: :sings: round and round we go, round and round we go.

I've just been hired as Phins GM ( how worse could one do realy). TE; Clays my hands, Simms my body. LB; stuck as f@ck with the youth we're already paying. Coyle get yours a$$ in my office and lets scheme to the talent. CB; how many did this last guy draft me? Coaches! Coach em up or ship you out. And give the midget who started last year my daughter's virginity if thats what he wants . S; need. Byrd is disgruntled in Buff. Must study first day of draft. WR; dont need one.

Gonzo, you're obviously not wrong but I promise my way is money. I'd put it on the chain wax. Its not rocket science. We have 1 HUGE problem. Fix the problem. Make it the priority. Get it done first. First FA acquisitions. First round. First.

Yup He was mentioned way back in the thread maybe page 3 or so?

Yeah I started reading the thread in reverse and saw him mentioned after I posted. I'd love him even if not a day 1 starter not sure if he's a first rounder either

So, the answer to over 6 years of bad drafting is to continue bad drafting? Can't explain that. If all the top OTs are gone by the time we pick, reaching for a guy makes no sense. Just because you make a 2nd round (or later) guy the 19th pick doesn't suddenly give him the talent of those other OTs and doesn't suddenly make him immediate starting material. You take the BPA in one of the many positions of need, unless a far superior talent somehow falls to us, then you take him no matter what.

A good GM will solve the OL problem through a combination of the draft and FA, including re-signing some. That has been the biggest need. We finally solved that (barring a horrible hire, of course).

It's cool man, we're using words and not actual feelings.

I understand the hard feelings after re reading the post.

We have no problem whatsoever. It's tuff for me to post sometimes, as I do it as I talk and my somewhat warped sense of humor is often misunderstood because there is no way to include the tone/intent of what I am saying, and some take offense which was not intended.

IF we do what I would like in signing Collins, a KC RG, and the GB C, along with re-signing Clabo, we can pick whoever we like.

I agree with drafting a big TE...like a 6'6" guy that can jump like a frickin' kangaroo. As New England is 2 TE's are enough ! Clay is a good player, and a tweener...that's what makes him good. Saying that, he's not a true TE.
