Pretty interesting stuff they have been talking about over the past 2 days. I'm not sure if this has been posted as I haven't been on line in quite some time, but they have been stating that Jerry Jones really like McFadden and could trade his first two picks and Marion Barber for the one overall.

They broke it down and by the draft board numbers, the points would be under what the 1 overall is worth, which makes it not out of the question. If by chance this were to happen it would put the Fins in a great position to make a few more moves.

Their theory was that the Fins get their 2 round 1 picks, Marion Barber who is an excellent back that would compliment Ronnie and with one of their two round 1 picks (the lower one), trade it and the 3rd round choice for Derek Anderson. That would leave us with a 1st and 2nd round choice, 2 picks in the top 35.

The running back situation would be solidified and the QB situation would be solidified. I like their thinking and would love for it to happen. Obviously it is just speculation and things can change. All I can say is that I hope McFadden has an incredible combine because it will open up a lot of doors.

Not gonna happen.

Dallas isn't going to rape and pillage their own team for a chance to draft an unknown player. We have no need for Barber, that would be alot of money tied up in one position with both Brown and Barber under contract. You would be paying top $$$ to 2 players and only getting half of the production from them.

As much as I would love to get extra picks, this trade is not going to happen.

Jerry Jones is a little smarter than that. He even said he has no idea where that came from, and it made him laugh when he heard it.

did you ever think there could be a 3rd team involved?? possibly the bengals and johnson (not saying it will happen, but its POSSIBLE). trading barber for johnson

Barber is a top 5 RB, Jones has already said he isn't going anywhere.

One would think, but Jones, Snyder, and Davis are 3 owners that are a bit compulsive and once they decide they really want something...they go after it. Look how the Cowboys built their team with the Hershel Walker trade. Minnasota really wanted him and gave the house. Look at New Orleans trading down to get Ricky Williams, I think a couple first born children were thrown in on that trade. I think they are stupid if they give us 2 firsts and Barber....But I wouldn't be completely shocked

He's not close to being in the top five with LT,Peterson,Westbrook,Brown,Mcaghee,Lewis, portis,Green bays Rb so i would say hes in the top 10 i mean he has 1 carreer start in his carreer and we would be dumb to accept barber 1. too much money for Rb 2. Ricky 3. Lorenzo we need someone of theirs on defense.

I beg to differ

From one of my posts on this topic:

Of course every team has a starter and a backup, but Dallas is one of the teams that splits the carries relatively even (Barber 204/Jones 164).

The thing you fail to realize is that the top runningbacks in the league (statistically) get the majority of the carries on their respective teams.

Top RB's in order of rushing yards and their primary backups:

Player/Attempts
Tomlinson 315
Turner 71

Peterson 238
Taylor 157

Westbrook 278
Buckhalter 62

Parker 321
Davenport 107

Lewis 298
Wright 60

Portis 325
Betts 93

James 324
Arrington 26

McGahee 294
Smith 75

Shall I go on?

Barber averaged 4.7 yards per carry on only 204 carries. If you project his stats for 300 carries (what the top backs in the league get) he would have gotten 1,410 yards and his TD total of 10 would have increased and rivaled Tomlinson's league leading 15. And before you point out that Peterson and Taylor had roughly the same # of carries as Barber/Jones, keep in mind that Peterson suffered a knee injury on November 11th that bothered him for the rest of the season, reducing his workload and increasing Taylor's.

If Dallas gave Barber the majority of the carries instead of using a balanced 2 RB system, Barber would be in the top 3 RB's in the league, without question.
;)

You honestly think JJ is stupid even to do this deal, I believe that and I've been hearing the rumor is 2 1sts, 3rd and Barber for the #1. But you know JJ loves McFadden, he's not stupid, but he's that ignor*nt

I wish we could get those two first round picks, but the closer we get to the draft, the more false this seems as a possible trade.

I just hope McFadden has a Unbelieveable combine.

If that happens exactly like the way it is planned out.
I would sign up for that in a heartbeat.

Ending up with #22, #32 plus #57 ( from SD )
Barber and D Anderson!
I love that!
