Ok...I know it might be too early to do this because he has only been a NFL starter for two games, now is as good of time as any to say I owe Chad Henne an apology. I have always had a fear of our Henne and spoke out of my butt on several occasions about him. Here are some of the things that I have said about him on these message boards.
3/21/08:
"Henne is garbage, he would have be a day 2 qb if it wasn't for the senior bowl and combine. he can't handle pressure and is inaccurate in pressure situations. look at any of his film against ohio state, he folds in big games.
He won't be in the NFL anymore in 4 yrs."
3/24/08:
"are you kidding? I'm sure Ryan Leaf would have looked amazing against a division I-AA school too. Check his tapes against Ohio State for 4 years, garbage! DON'T DRAFT HENNE!!!!"
4/4/08:
"if your a michigan fan, then you have seen him faulter four years against Ohio State. He doesn't show up for big games. He did everything he could to try and get Florida to win that bowl game this year. He has bad pocket awareness, slow at making reads, and is inaccurate in crucial situations. Chad Henne will be out of the NFL in 4 years."
4/28/08:
"I don't like that we drafted Henne, I really don't think he has what it takes to be an NFL qb. I like the fact that Parcells and Co. are trying to right the ship though. I just wish the QB we got at 57 was Brian Brohm."
8/13/08:
"Chad Henne is a rookie and he has the potential to be a solid NFL quarterback. There are still a lot of issues and bad habits that concern me from his time a UM. He is an enigma. One side you have a guy with a cannon for an arm and who can take a hit, then get right back up. Then the other side is a QB that can be inaccurate, that has a bad pocket presence, and folds under pressure."
Chad way to prove me wrong man. I still stand by what I said I saw in him at Michigan, but Sparano, David Lee, and Chad Pennington took a smart, talented player and made him a good NFL QB. They broke him of his bad habits and he looks like the type of player we have been looking for since Dan Marino retired. Chad Henne this is my public apology. I am so glad that I was wrong about this! Any one else whats to join me and apology for their comments about our QB of present and for (hopefully) years to come. Thanks for the win of the Jets Chad, you are the man!
