While I was going into renal failure at camp yesterday, (holy humidity), I thought of a very interesting question (I think. We need the time machine for this.

Here's the question:

If Brees had signed instead of Culpepper would Saban still be the HC?

Brees said in his own words (X2 as he voiced his book on audio book) that Saban rubbed him wrong and he was the reason he chose NO. We would have to imagine Brees would have played similar to his time in NO. Sabans drafts would have had to have gotten mega better.

I think Saban would still be the coach and Brees would still be the QB in MIA.

You?

I don't think Saban would still be in Miami. First off I don't think Saban would be able to control pro athletes like he is able to control college kids and I think that would wear on him. I believe that was already happening while he was coaching in Miami. I also feel Saban had no clue what he was doing when it came to player personnel. His draft classes while in Miami were awful, so I believe Saban the personnel guy ultimately would have undermined Saban the coach. Lastly, I believe Saban's abrasive personality and his favored style of play would have eventually worn thin with the players he coached and they would have tuned him out.
