I get all the frustration that we fans here have about the state of affairs with our team. It's completely understandable with the lack of success we've had over an extended period of time and the high expectations we've had only to be let down time and time again. I've lived it myself as a long time fan and it's been very very hard on me. With that being said I still love this team and I always will and I hate to see us cast in such a negative light..........and that includes us as fans!!

I feel like things are really getting out of control at this point and we need to pull together as true fans because our team is under threat. I see all these outsiders and ex-players bashing us and making a mockery of my favorite team and it pisses me off. Being a fan of this team is in a way a brotherhood and we should all try to find a way to at least stick together against those who don't have the teams best interests at heart and want to make us look bad. I don't have a problem at all with us expressing our displeasure from within the family and on our chat boards but when we take the side of outsiders who detest us and say things with the goal of making us look bad that's where we should all draw the line if we care at all about this team.

I know i'll probably get bashed for this post but it's well worth it to me if just a few more of us start to stand up for this team during these trying times.

A fan for life........Go dolphins!!!!

The way I see it, Parcells and Ireland built this team a certain way. Even the Owner agrees that the Parcells way doesn't work, and he wants a new, flashier, exciting offense. That's why Philbin is here. Realistically, most of the team will need to be rebuilt/upgraded to fit the new scheme, and this won't happen with just one Free Agency and Draft. But, the fans are so impatient (can't blame them after all these years of losing) that they want a winning team built overnight.

You may be right but the flaw here is that a Parcells clone is now picking the groceries in Ireland.

That's a very good take on the situation we are in right now gofins60 and I agree. It's going to take some time for Ireland and Philbin to make the changes on offense that we need because it was built for another time and is outdated. The defense looks stout and with a couple more key additions could be dominant. I'm pretty optimistic that they will find the right players for Philbins scheme and that the team will have some success this year but it may take a few years before we are really able to contend. I just hope that our fans have the patience to see things thru this time around.

Keeping the faith........Go Phins!!!

A welcome sense of reality

Peyton Manning did not want to come, that's it period. Even if he did we are installing a Green Bay WCO scheme that Manning would require to adjust into. At this stage of his career I doubt he is prepared to do that which would undermine the offensive philiosophy Philben wants to install. In any event 5 years at $90 cannot even be considered for someone who is one hit away from eating soup with a straw.

Matt Flynn is Matt Moore and not worth the risk vs investment. Likewise Alex Smith who wanted too much dough and is largely considered a bust.

To me it looks like Philben is happy with Matt Moore as his starter and if he is so am I. He showed enough last season to make me optimistic that with a full pre-season he will be fine. Whilst David Garrard is an ugly signing he is a former pro-bowler with WCO experience and at worst is insurance. A low dollar offer 1 year contract means we lose nothing.

The draft will dictate the above as if they go for Tannehill then he is the QB of the future and Moore the caretaker until he is ready. If we pick Weeden then he will be expected to compete straight away and if he is as good as advertised then I envision him starting with Moore backing him up and Garrard cut.

The real hole in all of this is the loss of Brandon Marshall which from a purely talent perspective puts a large void in our offence but remember the WCO does not need a true number one and if we can pick up 2 recievers in this deep draft we are in good shape. Marshall was not a good aquisition and ultimately became a distraction and if this NY incident blows up then we would not have been able to give him away. This draft is very impressive for WR's and starting talent can be found as deep as the 5th round. This offence will look NOTHING like last years and the need for a big-name receiver is gone. Bess, Hartline, Gates, Moore and Wallace will be able to produce in this system albeit I only expect the first 3 to make the team.

The draft is a month away, the defence is pretty much intact and a LOT can still happen. Our signings thus far have been solid and personally I am not in panic mode yet and applaud Ireland for not selling the farm on Manning, Flynn et al

I expect an offence heavy draft with hopefully a pass-rusher picked up in FA and then I will judge.

The Sky is not falling yet, patience....

It's fine to rebuild but that rebuild needed to begin with letting Sparano and Jeff Ireland go to start. Echo Cleetus. It's the FO that has needed a rebuild for a long time. When's the last time the FO was good for the Dolphins?

I don't think this front office is as bad as some of you and the outsiders think and I don't believe it's a complete rebuild we're facing here. It goes without saying that quarterback needs to be upgraded and we need to add at least one good receiver and a seam threat tight end. The offensive line is in pretty decent shape and an addition or two there could make it a top line in the league. I'm more confident going into this draft than the last several because Ireland will have Philbin and Sherman advising him and not the smelly tuna and his outdated blueprint. This will definitely be a great benefit to Jeff and could just save his career here........at least that's my hope. I don't care how popular he is as long as he does a good job for us. We need some continuity in the front office and I truly hope these guys succeed.......and that includes Ireland.

its not a rebuild...its a retool.

If it were a rebuild, we would look to trade people like jake long. brandon marshall dug his own grave...and probly did it on purpose cus he did not want to be here. he tweeted his buddy...now he is with his buddy.

If we were to start trading players like Dansby then I'd say we are rebuilding. I agree it's a re-tool situation.

Things are so bad with this fan base and Miami's local media, I think some so called Miami fans are not rooting for that to happen. I think some ppl would rather see the Dolphins fail than to see them do well. These are the same ppl that refuse to even consider that when the Tuna was here Ireland wasn't the one running things.

There's a lot of cherry picking going on with some so called fans, and media.

On the surface this has been a disappointing off season in that our primary objective of obtaining a legit starting QB has not been met. Most of us dreamed of Peyton Manning directing a high powered offense to go along with a stout defense and that makes us an instant contender. Couple that with the signing of Garrard and you rate this offseason as an instant failure. This from an organization that has passed on current QBs like Rodgers and Brees in the past gets you pissed off.

We are indeed retooling and will hopefully pick up some talent in the draft, including our future franchise QB, which will make us competitive in the future. The problem is we as fans are forced to wait again as we hope that our new regime and recycled GM can get it done.

I like the additions so far this year. I didn't really like the idea of signing Manning for 6 years and 95 million dollars. LMAO, the Broncos got hosed. I didn't like the idea of giving Flynn 8 million a year plus the keys to the offense. Moore is doing a great job and bringing a healed Garrard definitely brings competition and another set of experience eyes for Moore to learn from. Drafting Tannehill or Weeden will give us a QB of the future. Westerman was a nice pickup too. Resigning Solai was important. Getting rid of Columbo was paramount. LMAO.

GO PHINS~!

My concern about Garrard he has had chronic back problems and is 34 years old.
