Time to drop some dead weight off the ship...

...and the fact I watched every single game on TV and can only remember the Patriot one, shows how inconsistent he is. Without cheating and looking it up (which someone will do anyway to prove a point), can anyone remember the other games he scored in?

Yes, we should just go ahead and make all our final cuts and cancel the final four games of the pre-season, afterall, what more could we possibly learn from those four games that we didn't learn in one hall of game?

If that is your opinion, it is sadly short-sighted.

Suggesting the cuts of three players certainly isn't tantamount to jumping the gun to the final cuts or jeopardizing any exhibition games.

But hey, if that's the way your mind works, only in absolutes, then knock yourself out.

How many did he drop, exactly?
ya know, people always want to look at hardcore numbers for everything. That is fine for some things, but lets think a bit more realistically. If die hard fans have a more than 50% consensus on a player (which i would say we do), there is a very good possibility that the player isn't performing well. Whether he really dropped 1, or 50, it's obvious Thompson isn't doing anything worth a damn if none of the hardcore fans believe in him or rave about hsi play.

Do you have any evidence whatsoever that he drops more passes that anybody else that is available to replace him?

David Terrell is 4th or 5th on the depth chart in NE. What is he best known for? Dropping passes.

Wait, let me put my white lab coat on and produce empirical results in my double-blind study of Derrius Thompson for you to peruse and judge.

Get real, it's a message board, we're discussing what's obvious and anyway, if you need proff, you are free to look it up yourself.

No my friend that was sarcasm, My mind works logically, and logically we should use every minute of every game to evaluate every player on this roster so Saban can determine what he's got, I'm quite sure if the play we saw continues those parties will be gone at the appropiate time.

I think it would be a huge mistake to release Derrius Thompson and Reggie Howard so early, infact I think at least one of them if not both of them will make the team. Some realistic releases that I could see happening would be Taylor Whitley, Seth McKinney, and Donald Lee.

Baloney. These aren't rookies with possible upside, they are veterans that are playing at precisely the level at which they will always consistently perform throughout their careers.

And my original point stands: they are taking up roster space and practice reps that could go to a young player with real upside.

I posted an opinion that he played pretty well last year. Why does my opinion count less than yours?

I see, rely on knee jerk reactions to single plays with no idea if the replacement player would actually be better. Sure.

I understand your point, but you'll have to understand if I'm more comfortable letting Saban make those decisions, I'm betting he knows a little more about it than we do.

I'm confident that when he's seen enough he'll take the proper action.

How does it show that? Without cheating, name the games that Chambers, McMichael and Booker scored.
