With free agency winding down, it is time to start thinking draft.I think we are in a spot where we can take the best available player regardless of postition.A couple of guys I like are clay matthews, and hakeem nicks.I am not a fan of taking any of these corners in the first round because I do not think they are game changers.I love ron brace in the second round to be are nt of the future.
Time to focus on the draft.

interesting alternatives: Parcells always has something up his sleeve for mid & late rounds. also, would be interesting to opt for a hybrid play-maker that could start & make an immeditae impact like White (QB/W/RB) could plug into the WildCat w/o missing a beat.

One more reason I'm scratching my head over the Green thing.
Hope we are not finished here with CB in F.Agency. We need to pick up a good one and then we can focus on other things in the draft.
We should be grateful at that quality of CB who have been available, and take advantage of an area we need to desperately upgrade..........JMO

why over pay a CB that they feel isn't worth the money, ide rather sign average underrated players to decent contracts. Anyways look for them to draft at least 2 CB in draft, we will be better off then wasting money.

I actually really like the crop of corners this year. While there is no absolute standout CB (Jenkins is a bit slow and Davis doesn't have work ethic) there are many CB's that rate end of first round.
This means we should have options near the end of the first to select out starting CB. While there is always a chance one drops to our second round pick. No use in crying over no elite corners in the draft, seeing that someone like that would go top 10.
Lets look at it this way
Potential 1st rounders CB: Butler, Moore, Alphonso Smith, Sean Smith (From the National Champion Utah Utes), Jenkins (if he falls)
2nd round: Any 1st rounder that may fall possibly the Smiths, Macho Harris, Jarius Byrd, Coye Francies. Maybe even Mike Mickens or Jarius Byrd
3rd: Fallen 2nd rounders, Mike Parsons
I personally an very high on Butler and the Smiths. Harris has the chance of being a shutdown corner, or a big bust. Parsons could be great value in a later round. He was being slated as a first round prospect before this year. No one threw his way this year, but he shut down Ohio State.
I love Oregon, but Byrd has never really impressed me. The others I cannot say I know much about but just looked at some player rankings.
But, I would say this draft is deep in corners in position with our picks.

I don't know if this will do any good but I think that this should say something that a rational fan can be aware of.
"Miami’s pass defense ranked 25th in the NFL last season, allowing 228 yards per game."
Ya lets get another mediocre CB and save the money so that we can come back in another year or two and pay another average and cheap player even more money.
And the underrated CB,s are debatable.

I understand what you are saying but just cause you pay some CB 25 million and 15 in guaranteed doesn't mean they will be good, if they arnt confident enough that one of those "top" CB are worth the money then why pay it when you can draft 1. Either way i do understand what you say, if the FO feels they have some great prospects in the draft then i will be happy waiting and saving some cash.

I remember Madison and Surtains rookie year. Nothing to jump up and down about and they both ended up playing in the PB.Its a complicated position and usually takes time for a rookie to learn that position.
Also feel that if we can fill that needed position with a good experienced "proven" again Proven FA at a price thats not out of this universe , it might be the wise thing to do.
Not only shoring up the position but also freeing us up to fill other important needed position with the draft.
The 25 million and 15 guarat. is your numbers and hopefully not what we'd most likely be looking at.
Although I feel for the right young player to nail down the position for years will come most likely not cheap but IMO the right player would be worth the investment.
I'd go 3.5 mil for the right player..... they are pretty creative with the salary stuff.

Ya i would love to lock down a proven 100percent stud for 4 years but apparently BP and Company doesn't feel that way about the FA's, thats not to say that those FA's arnt any good just might say that they didn't think they were worth there asking price. Then again maybe they are wrong and passed up a good FA worth the money but we will never know until the dust settles. Hopefully they know what they are doing (so far so good) and have a plan set cause we are not gonna look good this season even with the Green addition. Lets hope we draft 2 - 3 CB in the draft.
This is a draft that is a luxury for us, in the fact that we DON'T HAVE to draft a starter. Even if some areas of our team are weak, i.e., CB...we aren't pushed into reaching because what we have is serviceable..so as the original poster wrote, we can go for BPA... I'm sure there are targets the organization would like to address..but they don't have to address it if the value is not there for a particular pick.. So this will be an interesting draft from that standpoint.. I'm sure they may reach in the lower rounds, but I doubt they reach in the first 4 rounds.. They can pretty much stick to their draft board..
