Time To Interject Some Common Sense Perspective

I'm fine with the pick. I just hope that all the "Ross leaves the talent acquisition" to Ireland and his staff is on the up and up. I'm sure it's hard for an owner to take a hands off approach, but Ross needs to let the football people run the team. The less I see and hear from Ross the better.

as I've been saying, there were only 2 other guys I would consider, one went right after we picked, and the other was a guy that Fitz wanted to help him out.

I'm ok with the pick. I had my doubts about Tannehill, but here's the deal. Floyd, Coples, Ingram, Kuechly, Cox, others, where in the board, so that means Tannehill was our guy even before the draft started. They were waiting for him there and he was their choise. That's what leaves me happy about our pick, he was our number one choise.

Today has been sealed the fate of some people in Miami Dolphins, for better or for worse

Yes, I know it's a vanity move, but I'm bumping my own thread as I believe it was the first one, in the midst of a lot of agitated mouth-breathing, generated to specifically point out that we don't have to necessarily prefer the Tannehill pick, but if we have confidence in the conviction of our OC who worked with Favre, broke all sorts of then existing offensive records at GB and knew Ryan best, then it's still reasonably easy to reconcile the pick, contentedly being at peace with it.

I am seeing this philosophy starting to differentiate itself from the formerly extreme emotional sides as I knew it would, but nevertheless, have never been above giving myself an "attaboy." :idk:

It appears that BP and Ireland differ that Ireland tries to stay away from guys with potentially speckled pasts or poor work habits although not 100% because everyone should get a second chance - Ireland passes on talented players like Dez Bryant, Michael Floyd and Ryan Mallett - Tanny is a good person with upside Shermen knows him top down - Ireland listens more than people give him credit

Therefore it appears Ireland would never had traded for BM and that is pure speculation on my part

I was also on the Floyd and Weeden thing but I cant complain that we FINALLY picked a QB in the first. Interesting to see how it will turn out. Cant wait for the season to start!

In typical fashion, our fan base continues to be bi polar. In this case we seem to be split down the middle between loving or hating the Tannehill pick with little middle ground.

Personally, I was in the draft Floyd and then trade back up to get Weeden camp, so it's true I could be happier. But the bottom line is that I'm a helluva lot more content because we didn't buy a pig in a poke. Our OC whose GB squad broke the then existing franchise passing records and who knows his way around elite QBs, (Princess Favre) actually coached this kid so really, could there be a better point of reference??? Yeah, he may not have been my pick but to arbitrarily compare him to failures based on someone's impressions formed largely in front of their HDTVs on their lazyboys strongly infers that these remote GMs know more from afar than does Mike Sherman in general or in particular as relating to Tanny. And taking a step back, anyone who can substitute their emotionalism for objectivity knows this is far from the reality!

More than that, our token courtesy offer to Flynn for face-saving purposes strongly suggests that Sherman liked Tannehill a helluva lot more than Philbin did Flynn. I happen to agree with this and believe Flynn adds nothing that we don't already have in Moore. HOWEVER, if Philbin wanted Flynn, I said all along I'd be perfectly fine with that, as I am with Tannehill although Weeden was and still is my personal choice. So if we expect our coaches to do their jobs, how can we find fault with their obvious strong conviction in Tannehill's upside?

So take a deep breath before suggesting some negative analogies to Tannehill and realize that while your opinions may or may not turn out to come true, few on here know half of what Sherman does about successful QBs going in, even before the up front and personal interaction. It just is what it is :idk:
