Miami has four excellent RBs and will only be able to keep three. Brown appears ready to have a breakout season and Cobbs is the best third RB in the league. That leaves a choice between Ricky Williams and Lex Hilliard

After a year in the practice squad, Hilliard is showing excellent talent as a runner and receiver. There is no way he can be stowed in the PS again without another RB poor team sapping him up.

In contrast, Ricky is marking time in his last couple years before retiring.

Miami should give Hilliard some reps behind the first and second team lines next week. If he is still performing, trade Ricky for a 6th or 7th round draft pick and keep Hilliard.

This will give Cobbs many more touches as the #2 RB and allow Hilliard to vie for the title of best 3d RB in the NFL.

are you out of your friggin mind ? because lex hilliard made a few brilliant plays in preseason against 2nd and/or 3rd string guys , we need to make room for him by getting rid of ricky ?

wow i thought i had seen it all here...

Sorry for what ever you fill but Ricky is behind Ronnie and hilliard will go to Practice Squad or will be cut. Where do say Cobbs is the 3rd best RB in the league or do the best 3rd string rb? If so whats your point?

Threads like this make me not want to come back here..how as a fin fan can u talk this nonsense about trading ricky hahahaha foreal? Lex is better than ricky now?

It's more than a few brilliant plays. He is showing good development, he's young and if they put him on the PS, he'll be gone. There are some tough roster decisions this year for the first time in many years. 6 WR's and 4RB's amongst them. Ricky still has skills but he is on the down side of his career and trading him for a late rounder may be the decision they arrive at.

I'm going to pretend that this thread was never created by you for your reputations sake.......

I like lex hillard alot dont get it twisted!...I want us to keep him. and when ricky retires we will be still good.

Who are you telling. There's a reason I've been around for a while, and don't post much. I can only take so much before I feel like banging my head against the wall.

Ricky will probably leave as a free agent next year, but Lex Hilliard is not as good as Ricky, and he never will be.

yeah, earlier this week Robert Smith was saying how Ricky looks better than Ronnie in the backfield. That said, Ricky is 32 (the typical age when RB's start losing their wheels), but he should be worth much more than a second day pick. In fact, if we just keep Ricky and Lex and lose London or Camarillo to even things up, then I bet Ricky raises his stock even more for next years offseason. In which case, we have a better take on both players.

BTW, just read Armando's article on the recievers and I think he's got training camp indigestion (Yeah, he's bitching about how our receivers suck, then goes on to say we'll probably keep 6 of them:ponder:).

In other words, you clicked on the link and gave Armando the page views he desires.

Lex hilliard had one good preseason game... in the 3rd and 4th quarter...

ricky, we all know, is a very skillful player. But the best part of having him is that he's in the best shape of his life. You're off saying he's on the downside of his career, but the dude didn't play a whole lotta snaps in the last 4 years, so his body is mighty fresh, and even sparano mentions it every now and then that ricky is in a better shape than he was last year, and looking back at '08 i don't think it's too shabby...
so that thought about ricky being old and on the downside is BS IMO...

Hilliard MIGHT make the team, after all, last year we lost parmele to the ravens because we put him on the PS, i don't think jeff wants that to happen again this year. But we won't drop to 3 Running backs with brown cobbs and hilliard, no ****ing way

I don't understand the love affair with ricky. I am sorry, but he just doesn't nothing for me. If a younger guy can take his place, he should. I know its unlikely, but hey a guy can dream.

LOSING CAMARILLO?!? a u f***ing crazy. Btw the reason why people like Ricky better cause he proven by his experience and raw talent that lex had to work for and he was only facing 2nd and 3rd string players.
