i finally got a chance to review the tape, and daunte's problems aren't something that can be fixed in a week, or anytime soon for that matter. it's time to put the team ahead of himself and take a seat on the bench. (im not saying joey and cleo can do it. i don't know. but what i do know is daunte can't.)

watch the tape. 1:04 remaining first half. the daunte int. if this play does not demonstrate inability to read a defense, know where to go with the ball and to anticipate the throw, then i don't know what does...

just to summarize with little detail and keep it very basic....it's man coverage. chambers is not the primary of the play call. (gosh that tricky ol' mularky got me!. "they think we're going to chambers but ha! we're gonna fool em!") anyway the play design is 2 half field reads. left and right. for reasons unknown to mankind daunte chooses to keep the primary/secondary right side read where all the coverage will be (we can get into why this read was easy enough for a high school qb to make if you guys want to). what makes it worse is the left side routes were perfect for the coverage. no audible needed. chambers is open the entire time, as the play started with mcgee giving him a 10 yard cushion. it just doesn't get any easier. if daunte can't make a basic read this week, how is he all of the sudden going to be able to do it next week? he's not a rookie. this is his 8th year in the league. this trade is beginning to look as bad as the feeley deal.

BINGO!! He did the same thing here in MN for 7 years. That's why everyone says that Moss made him look a WHOLE LOT better than he is. Good luck:confused:

i think its WAY to early to be comparing the culpepper trade to the feeley deal. though god knows i would love to see it go that direction  .

i havent watched the INT since sunday, but i distinctly remember seeing our DE right there to make the INT if crowell didnt. and anytime a DE is in coverage its a good bet it was designed to confuse the QB.

but i did notice, as the announcers did, that culpepper's delivery was off. it just didnt look right. he looked rusty, like he hasnt practiced in a long time. he also didnt move in the pocket like he used to. that said, a lot of players looked rusty in week 1 and 2, so that could just be normal.

seems to me he just needs more work with the offense. and he used to run a lot, now it seems that he cant, he may also be adjusting to that.

Culpepper may have lost the game for the fins on sunday, but he also showed some great passes and reads. Its far to early, IMO, to bench him, as he is still far better then your backup. If anything, a change in playcalling would be good. Brown is a great player and should be getting the ball 60% of the time.

imagine that coming from a bill's fan :chuckle:

although, it could be a trap...

DC is coming off of a major injury and still learning a new system and where his receivers are going to be at.....give it time.

That INT at the end of the half was absolutely pathetic.... i don't believe it had anything to do about mechanics... or being just off. That throw was just WRONG! It is just so obvious, that he should never have thrown it... its so hard to even imagine what he was thinking. And the whole 'make a play' comment is even worse. Instead of make a play.. how about make a good play.. instead of a bad play. Both are plays.. but one is more favorable.

wanting a better player and improvment from the
players and coaches IS supporting the team.

laying down and taking it with a smile and saying
all is good, we love you is NOT supportive. it is like
a family or friend who constantly caves in to a
drug addict, they become ENABLERS!!

every time somthing goes bad instead of doing the
right thing and not allowing the problem to continue,
they fold up and give in and the addict keeps on
with his/her ways.

and if you roll over and keep telling nick how much
you love him and this stink he has put on the finz
he will not change!! it will give him his out to not
change or own up to his piling mistakes.

wayne h. needs to know how the fans feel and that
we will not put up with the continuing distruction of
this great franchise. after jj quiting, and the wanny
fiasco, WE DONT WANT IT ANYMORE!!

we are not going to be enablers for nicks ego!!

change what needs to be changed starting with duante!!

and i agree with alex marves who wrote today in the herald:

Q: How bad did the left side of the Dolphins' offensive line play against Buffalo?

A: Left tackle L.J. Shelton allowed one of Buffalo's seven sacks. But after watching a replay of the game Monday, I thought Shelton and left guard Jeno James did an adequate job. Culpepper personally deserves the blame for four of the sacks either because of indecisiveness or a physical mistake like a fumble.

as i said in a post yesterday to the o-line bashers...GO BACK and
look at the game tape/tivo. MOST of the sacks were duantes fault.
he held the ball to long or stood around. his ints were not him
getting pushed, his worst ones he had PLENTY of time and he had
his feet set and threw at the defenders! even the announcers
were saying how awful it looked!!

this is more than just duantes knee. he is in a funk just as kurt
warner was after he was hurt and let go from the rams. he had
a few years where he couldnt complete a pass and had mass ints!

duantes funk started BEFORE his injury just as kurts did.

and some guys just lose it. but we dont have the time to find out
which it is. a funk or he is over.

saban needs to man up for his mistake before its TO LATE!!

Who's to say that ball didn't slip off his hand when he was throwing it?? It was pretty clear to me that he was having a hard time hanging onto the ball in the first place all game. There are a number of factors that could have contributed to that INT. I agree that INT sucked and it was probably what put the nail in the coffen of that game, but its just one bad throw.

You people arn't going to see Culpepper get pulled unless he gets hurt. Point blank. Saban made his choice of a QB for the next 4 or 5 years, so you migth as well get used to it. Harrington is nothing more than an insurance policy incase Culpepper gets hurt.

Yeah and it's also the TIMING of his problems that are so bad - Total momentum killers. That pick would still look bad to start the 2nd quarter sure, but to finish out the Halftime and kill a drive ... then there's his fumble to start out the game. Great the players are thinking - we come off this horrible QB play at Pittsburg. What's the first thing he does in the home opener? Lose the ball like he forgot how to throw a stinkin' pass. Incredible.

And this coming from a Bills fan!! What can we learn from this??? You can be a fan of your team or a fan of the game. Fans of the team are often blinded by emotion.

Yes, and that is alarming.. You don't find that an extreme concern ??

I am totally with ya.. Culpepper could make a half hour episode of "football bloopers" in his first two games he has been so embarrassing .

either way i think we should draft a qb in the 07 or 08 draft no matter how well daunte plays cause joey wont be around and c-pep is 30 i would really love it to get maybe a d.stanton,d.tate,r.carpenter who knows maybe by 08 another qb will establish himself either way we cant keep trading for project qb's (the next j.delhomme)or old injured qb's. we need to start fresh at that position cause since 00 its been terrible. pay the guy to get him in camp and make sure everything is understood so we dont have a mess

You are correct
