Time To Squeeze Some Lemon???????

Okay guys, I just got off the phone with my dad. He is wondering why the "bleep" Saban won't play Lemon to see what we have in the guy. My dad said, "Is he afraid to hurt Joey's feelings?" I said I don't think that is the reason. I told him he just wants to keep playing the veterans. I am really not sure what the "real" reason is. What are you thoughts on this matter?

I think the players still want to win games. They won 5 of their last 7 with Joey at QB why change? I honestly don't think the players want to experiment. I know if I were a player I would want to try to be the spoiler the rest of the season?

I don't know what it is bro, maybe it is NFL game experience, but I wish he would just have the sack to start Cleo, and see what the kid has to offer the team.:wink:

Well, thankfully it seems his brain overrides his "sack".

Again, if Lemon was blowing up the skirts of the staff I feel they'd start him. Obviously he's not. We've got a division rival this week on a national stage. NOT the time to pull an experiment.

Against Indy, Lemon away.

Trek I see you don't like Lemon. I hope your boy Joey has a good game, because if he doesn't it is going to get real ugly.

Okay here is the problem I have with Joey. he stays with the play that was called even if it means throwing an interception. It doesn't seem like he can adapt to the defense. I don't think he will ever get better then he is right now. At times he looks like a deer in headlights.

You make it sound like Nick can't make a mistake. Why not let Lemon practice with the number 1's,a nd start and finish the game. When Cleo went in the game, it seemed like to me that the players were responding better to him then Joey. Have the players lost there support for Joey?

I completely agree, and I want to see Lemon. But at the same time why Saban keeps Joey. If he were to play lemon it's and admission to himself and his players that this season is over and the last games don't matter, just evaluating talent. But players don't want that, they play to win. And obviously, Saban feels like Joey provides the better chance to win.

He's not "my boy" at all.

That's the problem on these forums many times.
So many assumptions.

I'll say again, Harrington while being very hot and cold IS a proven player at QB. He can be very streaky but he's the best we've got. You don't go into an important game with the strategy of "experimenting" to see if a career 3rd stringer can make the jump to starter unless he's really been impressing.

Saban has said he's going to continue to play the best players.

Having reminded everyone of that, they are still starting Harrington after an abysmal performance, so I don't see how that could lead anyone to believe that Cleo has been really turning heads.

I know that goes against the mentality some have that any guy holding a clip board on the sidelines with QB linked to his name must be better than the guy that's starting but so be it.

I see what you're saying. However, I didn't get to excited about Cleo's performance in Buffalo because Buffalo prepared all week for Joey. I am not knocking Cleo, I would rather he get his chance in the pre season or if Joey is hurt and go from there.

I don't know anything about the players responding better becasue the game was blacked out to me. Before anyone flames me for not going to the game, I am laid off and couldn't fit it in the budget.
