This is a defense heavy offseason because now in the NFL defense wins championships. "Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence."
Vince Lombardi

Restructure Wake: less cap hit and more security on his part so he can retire in Miami. He came into the NFL later in his career so maybe he can retire while being productive at a later age.
Restructure Grimes: Not worth the salary he is demanding based on his lack luster play in 2015. Any one watching knows Grimes had a drop off in production.
Restructure Albert: give him a signing bonus this year so he can take less of a cap hit in 2016 and bye next year less dead money when he is cut. If restructured properly.
Restructure Cameron: he couldn't thrive in a Lazor offense, his 7.5 M can be spread out by another year on his 2 year deal. Plus we have no other viable option at TE and Gase like to use his TE's

Cut Dallas Thomas: a liability at all times
Cut Earl Mitchell: Didn't play well next to Suh
Cut Koa Misi: is always injured and plays below average
Cut Jennings: We don't need him, his salary doesn't match up to his production.

FA signings
Resign Lamar Miller it's a must. The front office has expressed interest in retaining him. It's millertime.
Resign or Franchise Tag OV. We cant let homegrown talent walk out the door. Born and raised in Miami just like Lamar Miller. The money we saved from Wake could garner his reurn to South Beach.
Resign Louis Delmes: He can be retained on the veteran minimum. He can be really good depth.
Sign Terrance Knighton: The money we saved from cutting Mitchell can be used on Knighton. He will eat up the blocks so Suh can hit the gaps the way he played in Detroit. Terrance will play the Nick Fairly role. We also have Jordan Phillips so our D-line can always be fresh.
Sign Tashaun Gipson: Very underrated for a FS and won't cost as much as Reggie Nelson and Weddle. He is younger and entering his prime. Vance Joseph will understand how to utilize him. He had 14 interceptions in 4 seasons with Cleveland. The Browns never had a pass-rush so the QB would always have more time to throw the ball. Rated the 67th best player in the NFL in 2015
Sign Leon Hall: Understands Vance Joseph scheme, he is 31 and can be a great slot corner. If Miami is smart he can be signed on a discount salary.
Sign Jahri Evans: He was selected in the 4th round. He’s been voted to the Pro Bowl each of the last six seasons. He would help mold and teach Billy Turner and Jamil Douglas on how to be a pro-bowl guard. Evans won't be expensive. The South Florida training weather would get Evans in tip top shape for the start of the season.
Sign Stephen Tulloch: Two down MLB was the leader of the Lions Defense in Tackles. Has familiarity playing with Suh. He is 31 and born in Miami. He trains in the offseason at LegacyFit in Miami with Manning Summer. Won't be too expensive to ink him to a deal.

2016 Draft:
1st Round: LB Myles Jack, Jack is an athletic freak he can cover slot WR's, RB's FB's, and TE's his NFL comparison is NaVorro Bowman. People will question Jack's character if he is a team guy or his he all about himself/Or Jaylon Smith who is a high character guy and if his health checks out ok would be a good pick up later in the season. Some experts had him as the Overall best player
2nd Round: CB Artie Burns, premium athlete with long arms with size and blazing speed. Raw he needs to work on his mechanics in the film room. A project the Vance Joseph would love to start working on.
3rd Round: LB Scooby Wright III, NFL experts compare him to Zach Thomas. If he is near his talent and should be there in the 3rd we would be stupid to pass up on him. Some injury concerns but nothing too serious.
4th Round: Best O-line Prospect
5th Round: Best O-line Prospect

Scooby Wright will be long gone by the 3rd round

If the front office makes this offseason like this thread we will the division.

Aside from being a little full of yourself...

What is everyones thoughts

...I agree with most of it haha. I'd work harder to grab an outside CB with Hall being more of an inside guy at this point in his career. I'd rather go Pacman Jones. I also think we need to make more of an effort addressing the OL. I think in this approach our secondary is still weak. A depth chart of Leon Hall, Jamar Taylor, Artie Burns, Bobby McCain and Tony Lippett simply isn't good enough. Jahri Evans is OK, but by no means would I feel comfortable that our OL is fixed following this blueprint. It also doesn't address one of our bigger needs, a swing-tackle.

Gipson is intriguing. Might not be my first choice but he's on my list. I want Knighton and Tulloch as well to strengthen our run-defense. Not comfortable with Stills as the #3 WR with Hazel as his only competition. Those are the holes I see in this. Overall pretty solid, and I'd be happy with this offseason.

I like the post except for your copping out on the mid and late round picks. Mid and Late round picks can become Hall Of Fame players. I find the middle and end of the draft and even undrafted free agents more interesting than the usually grossly over-hyped top 100 prospects.

It's February. Not everyone has watched 7 rounds of college prospects. Lets be real.
