2006

none taken in the top 10

so you look at this list and remember back to all the comments made about cant miss guys and hes a sure shot for the starting job and how yo felt about those players coming out, truly how many times were they/you right?

My point here is you dont know if Quinn turns out to be the next Brady or Ginn turns out to be the next Troy Williamson. Just enjoy the fact that our gm/coach thought to get us a playmaker of the likes we have not had since Mark Duper at that position and still got us a pretty darn good qb. Some of you are acting like we just picked the next Mike Willams and Ty Detmer and havent let this inexact science run its course. Maybe the chemiclas blend well together and we get a heck of a combo or maybe they dont. Truth is we are dolfans and we just got a few new additions to the family. Welcome them with open arms and TRUST our coach and Gm.

whats wrong with having differing opinions or hoping for certain players on draft day? I do agree that once they're on the team, lets hope for the best!

Ran/Cam's biggest mistake was not in passing on Quinn, but making everyone THINK Quinn was our pick and QB of the future and next Marino blah blah. They overplayed their hand in this regard. They were eyeing Ginn all along, while giving Quinn lip service in an attempt to drum up a trade (they wanted to move down and pick Ginn). However no fish were biting, so they went with their pick.
Unfortunately they so led the fans to believe in Quinn that they created their own negative backlash in passing on him. Once the ferver calms down and all I think most people will realize that we did OK.

I dont think there is such a think as "cant miss" anything.

Everyone is going to be sorry when they see we went out on a limb and got our selves a super star. Ted Ginn has a special speed that not many can ever come close to.

Sorry but Ginn was a horrible pick and not even a 1st round pick - bonehead move of the century.

I wonder if anybody here was tired of the negativity when the Dolphins picked Jamar Fletcher over Drew Brees.

Ditto for Eddie Moore over Anquan Boldin.

I think some folks are just going to have to accept that unless Beck and Ginn both play lights out or Quinn bombs, RM and CC are going to be answering for their choice on Saturday a LONG time.

Lol yeah and Whitner and McCargo werent reaches?? This is rich coming from a Buffalo fan lol!

BTW, I bet you dont regret the Whitner pick now do you? Guys a player, and you better hope he stays that way or he will be slapping at Ginns heels as he gets blown away :ninja:

Exactly. Unfortunately, I have a really bad feeling this is going to come back and bite us in the *** REALLY hard. I'm not sold 100% on John Beck. He's a great kid and he played well against lesser competition, but that doesn't mean he'll be the answer to our problems at QB. He very well could be another Jay Fiedler.

Actually no those were just stupid. And yes RM and CC will be answering for their draft picks play, as they would if they had drafted Quinn and he sucked *** for us. You think if JaMarcus is a bust that Al Davis wont be looking for a head just because the media said it was a good pick? You make your choice and live with it for better or worse.
If Ginn/Beck outplay Quinn Ran/Cam will be hailed as geniuses.

I might not have laughed as hard as I did when you all picked him. But then your coach comes out and says we drafted his family or some stuff like that. And does not even mention him as a WR.

Then within hours of the draft it becomes reported he will still be out for anywhere from 6-12 weeks. So much for learning how to run a route other than a fly.

You can't blame Cam/Mueller for all of the hype around Quinn, they NEVER said that he was our guy, it was the MEDIA that was saying that. Blowing smoke is part of the business look at the Raiders the media was claiming that they were in negotiations w/Russell, Johnson, and Quinn, I bet they knew they wanted Russell the whole time.

Look at Cam's success, I think he knows how to evaluate QB's.

Actually no those were just stupid.

If Brady Quinn compiles a strong career as a starter (think Phil Simms, Boomer Esiason, or Bernie Kosar) and Miami is still looking for a QB for years like we have been since Marino, you don't think everyone will call what happened two days ago "just stupid"?

And yes RM and CC will be answering for their draft picks play, as they would if they had drafted Quinn and he sucked *** for us. You think if JaMarcus is a bust that Al Davis wont be looking for a head just because the media said it was a good pick? You make your choice and live with it for better or worse.

While what you say is true to a point, there is safety in numbers. If the guy you picked was the consensus choice and he fails to pan out, you might get fired. You won't be dogged with that pick the rest of your career, though. That's what RM and CC have risked. They'll be the idiots who passed up Quinn if this goes badly. Hell, look at how people see Rick Spielman for overpaying for AJ Feeley.

If Ginn/Beck outplay Quinn Ran/Cam will be hailed as geniuses.

That's certainly the upside.
