I dont get it. The Dolphins have not had a QB capable of winning a game on their own since Marino left. We trade a second round pick for a pro bowl QB and people are complaining. I dont understand what people could be complaining about. The choices for this year were Frerotte who was ok last year but lost several games with poor decisions, a rookie QB that would have a steep learning curve, or Brees who had 2 good years, has a serious injury, is making an insane amount of cash and would have to learn a new system. With the exception of last year every year has been good for Daunte. Even last year he started improving after a few games. Lets not forget that Brees also has a major injury on his throwing arm. Anybody that thinks he is going to be 100% by September is kinding themselves (see Chad Pennington). If an arm injury to a QB doesnt scare you I dont know what will.

People are being very fickle. Saban has improved the team with every move. Lets support him and Daunte. By mid season everyone will be rolling with the D-Train.

All the people complaining, you will eat crow when DC hits CC for a few TD's.

Better get used to the attitude....this board is hilarious! Every player that gets cut will get his own, "What about getting so & so..." thread. Now it looks like every QB Miami brings in will get bashed. Something tells me that if Saban & Mueller passed on Brees, there was a good reason.

It would be nice if some of the fans on this board would simply start rooting for the name on the front of the jersey...instead of the name on the back.

Don't Bash

Don't bash. Welcome to the team Daunte! We're ready for a hell of a season...

Daunte will come here with a point to prove, and an axe to grind since he was a second choice and got bashed the way he has. He was my first choice as I would take a bum knee over a bum shoulder any day, and I've always like his style of play. We stole Daunte, and he will be the best we've seen since Marino. I'm sure he will become a Hall of Famer as a Dolphin!!

I was against the DC trade and still am, not because of DCs ability, but because of the injury and the cost of the draft pick. We were going to have to pay a top flite QB anyways, so his salary is fine. But, now we have to pay another starting QB salary for the first 4 to 6 games. On top of that, we have to replace the draftee that we would have gotten with that #2 pick. That would have been at least a starter or major contributor. So now we have to probably overpay for a Chris Hope or Deshea Townsend to make up for the missed draft pick...In case you haven't noticed, there are more holes on this team than QB...

Signing DC, while may be a boon for us was very costly...With the holes on this team, losing a draft pick is the last thing you want to do...

I haven't seen many people bashing Culpepper. There were alot of people who preferred Brees, but that doesn't mean they aren't happy to have Daunte. I preferred Brees initially. Now Culpepper is a Dolphin. I'm glad to have him. Brees can kiss my .......... :D

Everybody has a right to say what they believe, just deal with it. I for one don't like Culpepper, I think the guy is not very consistent, without players like Randy Moss, but like I've said before what Saban does I support. So let's hope Daunte turns out to be one hell of a QB.

Who's to say we lost anything at this point....say Saban trades down in Rd 1 and still gets help in the secondary but also picks up another day 1 pick? There are plenty of scenarios that have yet to play out.

Why would you say that we'd have to pay some backup starter $$$ for the first 4-6 games? First, who knows when DC will be back and second, once we sign a backup QB...he'll get backup $$$. No QB is gonna sign in Miami with ideas about "competing" with DC for the starting job. They'll sign here to backup DC.

I think if it was the Culpepper of a few years ago, everyone would be happy.

But he was having a horrible year last year, and coming off that injury? I must say, I'm having my doubts.

Ah, these are the same fickle Dolfans that booed Shula when he drafted some guy named Dan Marino who had two bum knees coming out of college. Shula was no idiot, and niether is Saban!!

And to be upset about a #2 pick? Are you kidding me? Who in this draft has Culpepper's ability and will be around by the 2nd pick? WE STOLE HIM!!

My thoughts exactly.

We were desperate for a Quarterback and have been for way too many years. Fineas' post says all we need to know. Duante will be in a great system with great coaching and he'll be surrounded by playmakers and an o-line that is really getting better and better. He'll be fun to watch and the AFC East better be plenty worried. The Dolphins are coming!
