The Titans have made official what they said the've planned to do since January -- release quarterback Vince Young.
The team announced the move in a press release Thursday, along with the release of five others players -- defensive tackle Tony Brown (injured), running back Dominique Lindsay, offensive lineman Jeff Hansen and defensive ends Marcus Howard and Kareem Brown.
"We reached out to Vince (Young), Tony (Brown) and their agents today to inform them of their release. As we have said since January, it was time for us to go in a different direction at quarterback and we have done that," Titans general manager Mike reinfeldt said. "As for Tony, his body just hasn't allowed him to play like he has in the past despite his best efforts. Both of these players have been productive for us, and we appreciate their contributions to our team through the years."
The Titans agreed to terms with veteran quarterback Matt Hasselbeck Wednesday and also have rookie Jake Locker, who they used the eighth overall pick on in April.
