So I went back to watch the replay and it clear he didn't know what do! Try get to the end zone instead of trying to score it looks like he was trying to put himself in a position to lateral the ball to teammate. I mean he would have ran toward the sideline he would have scored instead he decided to cut back into the middle of field only to be tackled. Did anyone else notice this???

It did look like he was thinking lateral. I'm not gonna nitpick the return though. He made a veteran play to bait Darnold, still made plenty of yards on the return, and protected the ball in the process. A+ in my book.

That int looked like the first pick Darnold threw in the Lions game. Almost same play, and position the defender was in to make the play.

Agree with most everything said except the lateral - he definitely should have stayed on the sideline and may have scored but as it stood, it was a great play, great chunk return yardage, great job securing the ball.

This type of nitpicking should be saved for teams like Patriots who need to find reasons to nitpick after being so dominant for so long. These aren't our problems... yet.

Impressed by his read -- seemed ready for the play -- and disguised well. As far as return -- OK by me -- most important he didn't get stupid and fumble etc.

I thought he saw a lot of guys ahead of him and was looking to get some yards but primariy protect the ball. Either way, a great play.

I don't know if any of you noticed.... but we won the freaking game. He was clearly not trying to lateral but what would it matter. He made a great play and ran it back 30yds. What's the point of trying to find something negative in every little thing? He "could've" dropped the int too.... but he didn't!

He baited the rook and made the athletic play. He's not my favorite player either, but he's a playmaker and that was a significant swing early in the game.

All you can ask is for your DB to make the play there. Whatever happens on the return is a bonus. It's the offense's job to capitalize and put the ball in the endzone, which they did, thankfully.

This is nitpicking. Call him out for poor coverage and/or missed tackles and I'd be on board.

Look I'm not exactly a McDonald enthusiast but he got an important int, picked up plenty of yards after the catch and the play set up our first TD..... Whats with the nitpicking?
