There weee some good things yesterday

1 Tannehill looked good (and I’m not a Tannehill fan at all but despite the two picks, he look really good yesterday)

2. Jones and Minkah
3. Oline and WR’s

BUT..... what in thh hell was TJ McDonald doing yesterday??? Was terrible. Missed tackles,oat in coverage etc... he has to play much better if we want to keep winning.

And our LB’s need work too
 
Reminder: This team’s brain trust gave McDonald a four year contact extension based on how he was looking in training camp practices lmao

Yea he was the first thing I mentioned in my reaction thread in VIP. He was awful, how can people talk about moving him to linebacker when he tackles like that?

He is a workout warrior the FO tries to hype up every year, but he just isnt very good when the real games start. The FO tried to spin how glad they are he is still around, but they also drafted a first round pick to replace him - and imagine how great our S pair would be if we could pair the outstanding Jones with Fitzpatrick? Pity the FO screwed up the corner group
 
Speaking of which what the hell is wrong with that left side of the defense on runs?

Carolina preseason game was a wake-up call and Henry took it to that left side and turned it up field.

We were gifted with that holding penalty but that was a TD.

Is it a weakness in the Wide-9 alignment?

Are our DEs too small and can't set the edge?

Where the hell is the OLB on those plays?

TJ Mcdonald....forget about it. That guy is a huge liability

I've been screaming it all offseason... Put Minkah at FS! This coaching staff does some of the most head scratching things when it comes to player positioning, and when and where to play them. We will get burned all year over the deep middle if we continue to trot out two SS's week after week.

Yes they want to put Minkah at free safety, but they only have two decent corners on the roster, thats not the coaches fault

Minkah needs to be the starting free safety and McCain needs to be the slot cornerback. McCain is much better inside than outside. I know they lack another quality outside corner, but putting McCain on the outside isn't the answer either.

its a lot better than any other option though. Your preaching to the converted, but our CB group is a real concern, if any of our 3 guys get hurt? its not going to be pretty

Actually it isn't a lot better than any other option. Did you see how McDonald played yesterday? That guy needs to be on the bench.

Well my response to that would be they have two decent corners, but NO decent FS's if minkah is playing the slot.

Hopefully sooner
Minkah played 64% of the snaps
and McDonald played 100 % of the defensive snaps

I can't see Minkah playing 25 less snaps a game
shouldn't happen and hopefully wont
 
McDonald looked good at times last season, so I am willing to give him at least a week of benefit of the doubt right now.

Weirdly enough, I am going to back off a little bit on my "Minkah exclusively at FS" stance after what I saw from him yesterday. He made some STAND OUT plays at nickel corner. I'm kind of on the fence now on whether or not his being a swiss army knife is an even better thing than I thought it was.
