To All You Feeley Supporters

If Saban is going to gameplan this week and devote time into one of the QBs, it HAS to be the guy who he feels should start week one. UNLESS, he wants to give Gus a chance to gameplan and execute against one team, and AJ a chance to gameplan and execute against another, but I really dont think we should start two different QBs for the last 2 pre-season game. Whoever starts at Tampa, ride him through to week 1.

Ok I see I have all you Feeley supporters gathered here, how about this: Do you want Feeley to start next week against Tampa? And REGARDLESS of how he does, do you want him to keep starting? Because put it this way, WHOEVER STARTS AGAINST TAMPA THIS WEEK WILL START WEEK 1. I CANNOT see Saban changing QBs after the Tampa game again. Agree on that????

Well alot of people wanna keep Gus starting despite his poor performance. I don't see how that benefits our team.

But you should see how it hurts our team to switch back to AJ and if he screws up, then what do you do? Switch back to Gus?

Agreed. But like I said if he starts Frerotte again, and he struggles again and Feeley comes in and plays well then we may not know a starter until the preseason is over.

Bottom line, whoever starts this week NEEDS to have a good game.

Don't you think that Saban has the responsibility to coach Feeley into whatever he can get out of him rather than settle for gus?

Most of the people here aren't Feeley supporters, just fans of the team, you seem to be a fan of Gus alone. Are you saying if Feeley wins the quarterback position, you won't root for him?

No, I think Saban has a responsibility to put the best possible team out on the field. He owes it to the players to win now. Yeah he has a responsbility for the future of the team (AJ is younger) but tell JT or Zach that this year we have to let AJ get used to the system and so it will be in the best interest of our team to let him start in the long run

No man I'll root for him and im definitely not a Gus fan, i hate gus. Im just calling it how I see it this pre season. Last year I was pulling for AJ, I really was. I was thrilled when he beat New England. Im gonna cheer for whoever the starter is and if it AJ and he does well, then I'll be a huge AJ fan, if its Gus, Im a huge Gus fan, Im just saying I think Gus deserves to be the QB, im saying whoever starts this week against tampa after a week of gameplanning NEEDS to start week one, and im saying the final decision of the QB needs to be made this week in the best interest of the team in terms of chemistry and so the team knows who their leader is.

I just made an interesting observation. Although AJ did average very little per completion, Frerotte threw only two fewer balls. This means that while AJ was only averaging only 5.9 ypc, his ypa was 4.75. Gus did average 12.4 ypc, but only 4.9 ypa. Without Welkers reception, his ypa drops to below 3. Aj's play was very conservative, but he lead us to more first downs than Gus and a similar ypa while getting the ball to his recievers. If Boston, Chambers, or Booker were out there, he would have seen much more Yac yardage (even against a better d). Frerotte had very few plays that accumulated yardage, but never did he get a real drive together. This is mostly the fault of turnovers, but if he can't complete anything much higher than 50 percent (38 percent tonight, with drops), how is he going to move the ball consistently?

If I was the coach, I would tell Zach and JT that we are starting AJ if it was going to benefit the franchise in the long run. Saban owes nothing but, the steady improvement of this team through proper coaching.

Getting wins now, is not as important as getting us into position to get wins later.

NO POINT to Frerotte being the starter

I think the point that has to made is that they BOTH suck. If you take everything the "Frerotte Supporters" say about the 2 QB's, you'd think Frerotte is head and shoulders above Feely, and vise-versa. Neither QB is that much better on a whole than the other.

That said, I want to see Feeley start because there is a chance at a future at least with him. Frerotte can obviously not do what we all want him to do, and that is lead us to a Super Bowl. If he does well this year as a starter, we'll still be looking for another QB next year. So ask yourself; what's the point of Frerotte starting???

If Feeley starts and does well, that means he's blossoming into a good QB and we can look elsewhere in the draft next year. If he doesn't, we'll use our good draft selection to take a good QB out of college.

That's what makes sense to me anyway (imho).

Ok so Feeley starts next week vs Tampa and does GREAT. Let him start. I agree. Feeley starts next week vs Tampa and struggles, but Gus plays well against the second string. Now what do you do? Do you start Feeley again vs Atlanta or switch to Gus? The fact of the matter is, whoever you start this week vs tampa, u almost HAVE to start vs atlanta which means u hafta start week 1.

Show me a play where Feeley was pass rushed in that game where he felt the rush, stepped up, and made the play. The fact is, the Steelers basically stopped pressuring the QB allowing feeley to do what he does best: Light up prevent defenses LIKE HE DID IN THE SECOND HALF OF GAME 1 LAST YEAR AND THEN EVERYONE THOUGHT HE WAS THE SAVIOR CUZ HE BURNT THE TITANS DROP BACK DEFENSE IN A HURRY UP 5 WR SET

There were three such ocations. Once a short throw to Diamond, another to a RB (didnt see name) and a third out of bounds on purpose.(Much improved this pre-season from the middle part of last year). Gus showed awareness too and it was a tough night for all 3 QB's. Perhaps you shoulg get a DVR or Tivo. Feeley showed good awareness last night perhaps you could give it another look. They never stoped blitzing, we adjusted our game plan. If you get the chance take a look at how many short throws Gus was asked or forced to make, even 3 of the drops (yes Iagree that there were 3 legit drops for Gus but there was 1 legit drop for Feeley as well) were short throws.

I will say this in Feeley's support: If we had an outstanding offensive line, AJ Feeley could be a pro-bowl QB. I just dont see AJ doing well without a great OL. Look at how well he did in Philly and how well their OL played. And i see your point about our future and find out if we need to draft a QB, but at times (and i know you all will agree) Im embarassed to see AJ on the field and I get the feeling that even announcers dont take him serious and comment on him like hes a joke. Remember, our major grpe last year was wannstedt should have named a starter from the beginning of training camp. Lets not have the same prob this year

Agreed. I must be a glutton for punishment because I keep opening these threads and reading them.
From now on I solemnly swear that I will no longer read any threads with Feeley/ Frerotte in the title.
