I know the season hasn't started yet but what's up with your boy ? I thought he was gonna do so much better this season. I thought he was going to anchor our line this year.

"Oh , its not his fault he got thrown into the lineup when he wasn't ready"
"He'll be our best lineman and you'll be eating your words "
"I'm sure he will improve over the offseason"

Well, from what I've heard and watched so far, he still sucks. I was hoping he would prove me wrong and believe me I'll still be watching but I don't think its gonna happen. I"m already mentally preparing myself for the game deciding mistakes he goin to make again this year. For all the things you people find to complain about, so many of you love this kid, I just don't get it.

Still sucks? Smith held his own last year against every DE outside the two PBers he faced. Not bad for a 3rd round rookie who only played the position 1 year in college. I think your expectations for him are too high for what he bringing to the table right now. Smith will make mistakes. He is still on the green side when it comes to experience at the position.

My expectations are the same for every starter don't let the QB get sacked by your guy and open up holes plain and simple.

How is that too high of an expectation from anyone?

Because its not that simple. Very few players walk into the NFL and find success without struggles. Especially raw rookies. Smith was raw last year is learning. He will make mistakes. Heck every player no matter who he is will make mistake. Younger players usually make more than vets.

Who's saying he cant make mistakes?

He needs to make less though!

you people are so uninformed on football in the NFL. Don't you know you are suppose to come in as a rookie and either know everything already and perform (if you are a high pick), or, you get one rookie season and an offseason and then it is do or die (regardless of draft position).

 :shootself

He didnt hold his own against ****. The guy got owned week in and week out. If he isnt any better then last year we are in alot of trouble even if we had Vick at qb and Jamal Lewis at running back

Blanket statement. Give me specific?

Example Colts game got beat damn near every play. On one occasion Freeney was in the backfield making a tackle and Smith was still down in his stance and hadnt even reacted yet. Dont believe me watch a the game film

Not to mention the blindside fumbled that was cause by his missed block after Buckley made an INT with a little under two minutes left inside the 20 when we were down by six

To all the Wade bashers, unless you can get Baltimore to send Jonathan Ogden down here, please stop. No the guy is not Richmond Webb, he's going to give up a sack here and there. He did good considering the position he was in last year, and so far in the preseason he looks alright. Wade Smith is not going to dominate, he's not Jonathan Ogden, get it through your heads!!!

That was one of the games I said he did not do well. Freeney is one of the two PBers. I brought up.

The Titans game going up against Kearse is the other.

Outside of those two games. Smith did rather well.

You mean the one where RW was suppose to help him and ended up running into Smith instead of helping block Freeney?

I can see how you blame Smith for not knowing RW was going to run into him.

ok, so who would you put at Left Tackle, who's better that's available right now? you must know something Speilman doesn't right?

I know that Griese and Fiedler got blindsided and fumbled in alot more games then two and every time it was his side of the line. I know that he was a rookie and he shouldnt have been playing but he was so. Whether alot of those were RW fault because he was supposed to help is a different story. If your a starting NFL player you know how to play football specially on the line so being a rookie shouldnt be an excuse
