Not saying anyone is making it up. However most remember only the Colts & Titans games when Smith was terrible. I too also watch every single minute of every dolphins game. I know Smith did not set the world on fire, nor did he get beat repeatedly. Smith showed he had what it takes to play the position. I think the people wanting to bash Smith simply are expecting more from him than he can do at this point of his career. Smith was a 3rd round develpomental pick. He was not NFL ready last year and I think he did a excellent job considering his lack of knowledge playing the position. He had only played it one year in college.BeatCrazy2 said:For one, I watched every single minute of every dolphin game and Smith did repeatedly get used quite a bit. Not just by probowlers either. Why would I or anyone else want to simply make up that our LT was horrible?
How many stud tackles coming out of college start their rookie year at LT?
Very few.
Leonard Davis the No. 2 pick in the draft a few years ago has played guard until being moved out to tackle this year.
Funny you say that be many NFL people talk just the opposite about him.BeatCrazy2 said:Do you think that is some type of fun conversation? And no I could not pinpoint every single incident because I tend to block bad dolphin moments like that out of my long term memory. Not to mention , I'm not watching wade frickin smith on every single snap, and neither is the camera man. But I did realize that the QB was being chased from behind and running for his life more times than not. And any time when they zoomed in on Wade , he was extremely slow getting in his stance and the D lineman blew by him very easily.
Smith does needs to improve on what he started last year. His play last year was not good enough for a starting LT, however for where he came from and what was originally expected of him I think he did an excellant job.
Smith did not cost Miami either game. The Titans dominated the Phins from the beginning. The Colts game ended on a fumble by BG who was not hit hard from behind and also it may have been Smiths man who did it, but RW blocked Smith on that play instead of Freeney. How is it Smiths fault when the RB comes up and hits him instead of the defensive man?BeatCrazy2 said:I had never seen any D lineman go someone that easily actually. The reason that you and all of us distinctly remember the games againsnt freeney and kearse is because he LOST the game for us. We played very good opponents and fought back to have a chance to win those games and his mistakes cost us the game.
He is good or at least he was last year. He had two bad games. Sure he did get beat from time to time. Tell me a LT that is not? Smith went up against other teams best pass rushers every week. Tell me someone else outside of those two games that had a great game against him.BeatCrazy2 said:Yes he was a rookie, and yes he was thrown out there, I've heard all of this a 100 times. But that doesn't mean he is good. He is put on the field to do one thing, BLOCK. If he can't do it, why is he ont the field. Thats my question.
People keep saying how poorly he played, but when ask to give some examples. No one can. Why?
