"to put some more wow in this offense"

I opened this thread thinking it pertained to the Fins offense and man was I wrong. I should have known it was going to be another thread about the freakin Cowboys.

Can we please just stop it. Enough!

I think they will throw in romo to sweeten the deal for miami

Anyone that doesn't think Jones wants McFadden is CRAZY. He will try - the question at what cost. Miami has 2 realistic picks - Ryan if they decide they need a QB or Gholston if they think he is the next Merriman. That's it with the #1 pick folks. CLong is NOT a DE in a 3-4 - too small and he is NOT an OLB in a 3-4 - too slow. Given this IF you want to move down you don't ask for too much. The Cowboys have 2 #1 picks. I dpn't give a rats about the value chart - 2 #1 picks coupled with our #32 picks means 3 picks all in a great area to get 3 possible starters. Less risk financially and more players. Now you add a mid rd pick this year or a 2nd or 3rd next year. If not then maybe a Spears or Canty. The Cowboys need Barber this year even if they pick McFadden - that trade makes no sense. Barber has NO WOW factor. IMO heck with the value chart - trade down or pick Gholston.

I agree. Shouldn't this be in a different forum?

at this point of the offseason there is little to no dolphin news, its all rumors about the draft. and with it being combine week what do you expect? what is there to talk about other than our own opinions? That was atleast from the horses mouth and not just something i made up =/

I posted this in the McFadden 40 time thread, but it seemed appropriate here, as well.

COWBOYS SENDING MIXED SIGNALS ON McFADDEN
There's an odd dynamic playing out regarding the potential interest of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones in the big-name running back from Jones' alma mater of Arkansas.
On Sunday, Adam Schefter of NFL Network confirmed that there were rumors last month that the Cowboys would package multiple draft picks and running back Marion Barber as ammunition to get from the Fins the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, which would then allow Jones to pick McFadden. Schefter suggests that McFadden's stellar performance at the Scouting Combine on Sunday could breathe new life into that possibility.
It would be the flip side of the Herschel Walker trade for the Cowboys, who fleeced the Vikings more than 18 years ago for the guy who was supposed to be the missing piece of the puzzle with a Vikings team that was on the fringes of the NFL's elite.
But other talk in league circles is that the Cowboys wouldn't move into the top ten for McFadden. And Jones denies that he's plotting a reverse-Herschel.
As a source tells us, however, Jones' demeanor at the Combine after McFadden ran the 40 in 4.33 seconds indicates that Jones indeed wants to bring Darren to Big D. Jones, per the source, was "smiling proudly" after McFadden's first effort in the 40, and then got up and left the RCA Dome after McFadden's second try, with a "huge grin" on his face.
Stay tuned on this one. Jones could be as driven to get McFadden as then-Saints coach Mike Ditka was to land Ricky Williams in 1999. The danger for Dallas is giving up too much in return.
And if Jones wears his heart on his sleeve, the Dolphins might be able to lasso the same kind of package that helped launch the Dallas dynasty of the early 1990s.

Sure the Cowboys will draft McFadden if they get a chance, but I for one do not feel that they will sell the farm to do so. If you don't think Jerry Jones can muster up a poker face or smoke screen something, you are crazy.

I think Jerry Jones would love to move up to get McFadden but he doesn't want to move to the top spot...I could see Jones moving up to the 3rd spot in a deal with Atlanta involving DeAngelo Hall. I hope we can drop down three to five spots and take either Jake Long or Gholston.

the good thing for us is that dallas doesn't have to trade the farm for mcfadden. guys like fasano, spears, carpenter and possibly r williams are expendable to them given their intense depth. they could give us all of those guys, pick mcfadden #1 overall, and be in a better position for a superbowl by doing so. dallas wants to win now. they need that explosive player to get them there - which jones has apparently even said - so this trade is extremely likely. this is the most viable option for us - because i honestly don't want any of the few potentials at #1. i see this trade happening - all of the pieces are there. then with mcfad's combine - forget about it.

While it is true that Dallas has some good depth, I for one do not want all of their castoffs. R.Williams and Carpenter I don't want anywhere near the Dolphins roster.

Jerry Jones is a risk taker, no doubt. But if my memory serves me right, those risks have usually fallen along the lines of free agents signees and draftees. I don't remember him ever taking risks with trading his own players that he values.

That being said, if I'm wrong and they do want to do a mega-trade, I am not opposed, as long as Roy Williams is not included. I'd be onboard with an Atlanta trade as well. This is a such good draft position with such talent available that there are multiple ways to "win". The only way the Dolphins screw this up is if the actual people they draft don't turn out to be good, regardless if it's the #1, #3 or multiple picks.

word riggs. i know i have said it over and over but the guys i mentioned would not hurt dallas by leaving and would instantly start on our team. i know about r williams and carpenter - those guys i am so-so about - just threw those out there to show how much talent dallas can get rid of without crippling their franchise and wanted to include as many as possible to avoid anyone mentioning barber. the trade would be mutually beneficial to both teams. i really want fasano - bad - and spears would be a quality starter next year. maybe them 2 and some picks. either way, i think dallas is the way to go.

who would we get from atlanta for #1? i've seen it mentioned just haven't seen the names of the players that we would want.

While highly unlikely, I still say that Dallas would be likely to move up to the #3 spot to get DM. I'm not sure Atlanta would trade down at this point if they are truly looking for a touted "franchise" QB. If they are set on Ryan (depending on how he does at his pro day workout), I could see them MAYBE willing to trade up with us for the #1 pick if they think we might take him. Then IF that happens, we get a pick or two from Atl for that and then the odds increase that perhaps JJ trades up to #3 to get DM before Oak can. The better Ryan's stock gets, the better our options are of moving out of the top pick (for several reasons). If his stock drops, then Atlanta doesn't have to move up to get him and may not only be willing to wait, but could even entertain trade offers from Dallas or other teams for the #3 spot. Let the smoke screen games begin!!!
