I think most people are a little rough on Gus. He realy didnt do that bad of a job for us.He started improving the second half of the season and made some nice throws. If he came back as a veteran backup or even started for another season i WOULDNT BE THAT UPSET.

You are correct in saying he didn't do that bad, but is that enough for you? Especially at the most important position on the team? Not for me.

I don't mind Gus as long as we get a promising talent on the team this year. Although his numbers weren't great, he doesn't have that Fiedler/Feeley tendency to screw us in the 4th Qtr of every game...

I agree can you imagine what C.C could do with a top quality qb. Frerotte is a good backup but we need to get qb that can win a game for us when asked not one that plays average.

Gus won't last forever. It's imperative that we get some young blood at the QB position. Gus will probably still start another year while we groom our long-term prospect.
My problem with Gus is that he is wildly inconsistent.

I think Booker & McMike would do better but CC seems to only catch thinks thrown out of his range, and drops things that hit him in the numbers. :goof:

Be careful, man.

When I read that, I read "TO Rough On Gus," as if TO came out and said "Gus sucks."

You realize that subject line would stop the hearts of a few people around here, right?

gus did way better then we expected he team up with CC to get him to a pro bowl give him credit dont know if hes starting in 2006 but gus did wry good for what was asked of him

I said this in an earlier post.....the man is getting no respect at all. He was running for his life in the earlier part of the season, how can he be expected to do well. As the Oline improved so did Gus and the team for that matter. Give the man a chance.

i agree, gus gets too much flack......he's obviously a stop-gap until we find someone better and he actually put up some of the best numbers of his career in Miami last season, under a new coaching staff and with a new team.

Why would Chambers numbers not be better since we threw the ball much more this year. GUs was a small part of Chambers success, that could have been just as much attributed to almost any qb starting in the NFL if he played and threw that much for us. I don't hate or love Gus but I know the differance between a starter and a backup. Hell I guess if Sage was starter all year that Chambers would have been in Jerry Rice territory.

Gus will be either relegated to backup QB or released. He did....OK this year. At times doing well, and others terrible.

He is not. He throws the ball away, some get dropped, and few are ducks. Lets be real here, Saban asked Gus to not screw up. When the season wore on, we started to open it up more. Gus' #'s will be better this coming season as long as things remain the same for the most part. And if....and that is still a big if...we get TO, then CC wont be dropping balls right in his breadbasket for very long this time.

Gus is Gus. Kitna is Kitna. I dont want Kitna. I want Gus for one more run to usher in the rookie. We aint gettin no veteran. We already have one.

Yeah he throws the ball away really well I really liked the play in Cincy where he decided to be a lefty for a play. We were lucky this year with him not making too many stupid mistakes but we need to get a qb with the ability to make plays like sage did when we were down by 21 points to Buffalo. Gus is not and will never be that kind of qb and we have been missing that type of qb since #13 retired. Its time to get one. Keep Gus on the sidelines with a headset where he belongs.

Especially when Sage comes in and finishs the job!
