The past two preseason games that I watched twice a piece. There were a myriad of missed tackles all over the field. I don't want people saying "Oh calm down its still to early to judge" That is just an excuse. Look at the past few seasons. We always have/had players miss tackles. One can only hope that when the season officially starts the players and coaching staff fix it correctly. I would really hate to see opposing team after team run all over us again. Lets fix it Gase, get the coaching staff working hard. I believe we are up and coming just a few things that need tweaking. Hopefully you all die hard fans agree with me because before I leave this earth I need to see our Fins win the Super Bowl then I can truly go in peace.

You have a point: it seems it's never too early to judge when someone is flashing talent, like Grant is, only when things aren't going well. There's still hope, but it's a bad sign.

I agree with you. The defense is trash. It's fine if people wanna say, 'oh it's preseason', but I'm not convinced.

The attitude is soft! There doesn't seem to be a mentality by some on defense( talking to you Mario Williams) to want to enforce their will on defense.

Grant is a beast no doubt he will excel in this league. But the Defense on the other hand. Give them this year till re-tool the weak links or is it something mental? I'm curious too see what the problem is for them not tackling. You learn that in pee-wee to tackle, not the NFL

The tackling problem is league-wide, they dont teach these kids how to tackle anymore. I've been griping about this for years now.

I propose tackling drills for the remainder of the year. Practice makes perfect.

It has been like that on this team for years...the scouting department appears to care more about "measurables" and not whether the guy is a "football player".

Don't want to go too far OT (I agree on the tackling), but I'm more concerned about undisciplined play. Too many times the D overruns a play or loses containment. That's mental. That's not doing the assigned job. Don't let ball carriers get chunk yards by mental errors. Too much of that at Dallas.

I have to agree. This startz with the LBs. At this point I nelieve all 3 of our starting LBs would be nack ups for most teams. The lazt two years our LBs have made no impact plays(sacks, ints, ff)and yet the FO has done nothing about it other than nringing Alonso who is starting to fit right in. They either start playing over their heads soon or our defense will be even worse this year

I think players are just trying to avoid collisions, not bad tackling.

If you look at the long run Morris had when he bounced off the pile and swept outside, Tony Lippett provided the most glaring example of being out of position. It always seems that at least one player is lost on each play and the net result is disaster. Tony Lippett has no business playing CB yet we're stuck with him because of poor personnel decisions.

Don't disagree, but "out of position" was FAR too common for a number of the D. Not all turned in to long runs, but a number turned in to 1st downs or turned a long 3rd down into a short one. Any one of those in a single series means the difference between no points or 3 points.

Most of the time tackling issues within the NFL have to do with lack of speed that prevents being in a good position or assignment mistakes that make it nearly impossible to be in a good position.

Howard's missed tackle on the touchdown was the cause of being 5 yards from where he should have been. That is correctible. Kiko's missed tackle in the hole was just poor tackling. There is a big difference between the two. Since it is a new defensive scheme, I expect tackling problems during the preseason and maybe during the first few games. After that, it is just poor tackling or the inability to perform your assignment correctly.

This is why it is ok this year to say it is too early to be worried.

I guess that's why everyone thinks Miami wins 3 games this year.

Actually, I have no prediction. There are too many questions at this time.
