I live in Arizona, so I can't comment on the Dolphin attendance, but it isn't just a problem in Miami.

The NFL has seen attendance drop in five consecutive seasons, and has recently loosened up on the blackout policy in an effort to try and draw more fans to the stadium.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/attendance

We are 26th in the league in Average home attendance, at 62,065 per game. While this might include tickets bought up to avoid blackout, etc., there are other teams that have worse attendance issues than we do. I don't know how far the stadium is away from a lot of the people.

For me all that needs to be done is change the color of the seats. My lord whose idea was it to paint them bright ass orange. Even in a sell out crowd, the stadium looks empty because of those damn seats.

Unfortunately there is nothing that teams will do to enhance future attendance. Technology has the upper hand and is growing by the minute.

Actually, I think loosening the BLACKOUT problem, just made it easier for fans NOT to go to the stadium. Owners buy out tickets alot easier now, then people watch from the comfort of their homes.

I agree with this completely. I have a question though, as I've never had the NFL Sunday Ticket, are the home team games blacked out also, or is it just the local cable channel that will be blacked out?

That's pretty bad.. Only 6 other teams with worse attendance? Wow. The stadium is absolutely garbage anyway, its freggin gigantic. Wish we had a real football stadium and not a futbol one. What a disgrace.

You get every game thats not on local tv.

I wish a stadium would be built so it could be like Seattle, as far as decibel level. Give the home team a true advantage. I always think back to that youtube clip of the Ref stopping the play, and telling the crowd in Detroit to keep quiet because the offense couldn't hear the quarterback. That's the whole point of playing at home, to give your team an advantage in any way.

Yeah well the orange bowl was like that.... God forbid we keep our stadium like that. Nope let's make all the soccer folks happy.

Honestly, I don't have NFL Sunday Ticket, so I have no idea. I go to every game. My assumption is that if its blacked out, they don't show it on Ticket either locally. Maybe someone else can answer this, Im curious also.

Blackouts are only local I believe. I'd still be able to see the game on TV from where I live.

I don't agree sir, I believe that if an owner was progressive and smart enough he could build a stadium completely dedicated with intimidation and intimacy into the blueprint, for example..the OB2..A multiplex stadium for the canes and dolphins built with the 12man into the spec...

the money being made on that stadium in seattle is the greatest investment opportunity the billionare boys club cannot conceptualize..

instead theybuild cookie cutters that are wifi capable...their missing a very lucrative boat.

could you imagine the excitement from both programs that has seen their culture diminish ever since they left the venue that gave them their identity.

I understand that, but I'm wondering if the home town would still be able to watch on NFL Sunday Ticket, whether the game was blacked out or not. I know that the cable channel is blacked out(CBS or Fox).

Just got my tix for the Pats game next week. Will be doing my very small part, filling 2 of the seats for that game, flying down from frozen NH..

It's too expensive to go to games. Who wants to drop all that money on tickets, concessions, parking, and everything else when you can watch the game at home, cook/drink whatever the hell you want and not deal with the drunk ******* in your section that won't shut up.

You can always find good deals, there is no substitute to watching a game live, you can smell the grass, you can be in the sun, there are celebrity sightings, hot dogs taste better at a stadium, you get some extra exercise, and a Dolphins win LIVE and up close..... Your theory sucks sir.

I still root for both teams but it's not remotely the same as the old days. I feel sorry for younger fans who never experienced the Orange Bowl. At least the Canes stuck around 21 more seasons than the Dolphins...

IMO, the simple fact that we play in this stadium screams that the higher ups don't know what they are doing. That's why I can't get too invested in coaching hires or general manager choices or draft picks.

I am confident that the Canes will never play out the balance of the lease at Sun Life. Idiocy can't last that long, even if Coral Gables opposes any type of major construction. Something will be built in the general area.
