To those that accuse Miami of having a bad fan base: (Proof)

The only thing this stadium has that the rest of the NFL doesn't:

More than half the population is from somewhere else. How else will you see your team play locally, plus tail gate with fellow fans? Ever walked around the lot and see how many jets fans / pat fans are together like little ****roaches munching on crumbs?

Most people here are from the North East / Midwest,

When we play NE, NYJ, PIT, CHI, DAL, PHI the stadium is full of the other team.

The Bills,JETS, Dal, Eagles games will be sellouts.

The NE game WAS A SELL OUT because of NE fans, there was plenty of them. For every 1 NE fan there was 3 dolphins fans...
The Texans game will not be nearly as full of opposing fans so you will see CBS / Publix / ATT buy remaining tickets.
Verizon used to buy a huge chunk of tickets and hand them out along with Publix. I use to get many of my tickets from Verizon, last night I got them from Bacardi. I didn't renew my season tickets this year.

Publix use to do the deal buy charcoal, hot dogs/buns, and tin foil and get two dolphins tickets for 40 bucks.

Having a sold out game and actually filling the stadium are two very different things. The Dolphins "sellout" games all the time, yet you usually see thousands of empty seats every week. Local TV networks always try to buy remaining tickets so they can still show the game. If the Texans game is declared a "sellout" and it is not blacked out, it is not because there is suddenly a huge rush of Dolphins fans to the box office, it is because the TV stations bought the remaining the remaining tickets.

Also having sold out games is great but having a large amount of the fans showing up rooting for the opposing team is not so great. There were empty seats last night, but it was certainly a very full stadium last night. Likely because it was opening night and a prime time game. However, when 30% of those fans are Patriots fans there lies the problem. It isn't just because there are a lot of Pats fans, it happens every year with almost every fan base. The stadium was full of Bears fans last year when I was down. There year before it was full of Saint fans.

But what do I know, I am just an out of state fan. Apparently because I see what happens in other NFL towns means I have no idea what is a problem and what isn't. I guess it is acceptable in Miami to see their local teams allow opposing teams to use their stadiums as another home game. That certainly wouldn't fly in other parts of the country.

I agree with all your points, but I do wonder about the difficulty of going to the games.

I live in Mexico and earn between 8K and 16K a year. About half of that is disposable income. Would I go to games if I could conceivably afford it? Sure. But I don't know if I actually could...

How much is a season-ticket package, 2K?

5-12 at home since the 09 season. Yea, its a mystery why casual fans arent signing up left and right to watch the Fins get boat raced.

Somewhat agree. The Heat sold out every game last season, because they have a product worth seeing. The Dolphins for the first time in their history have competition in town. If you are a fan of both the Dolphins and Heat, but you only have money too see one... Is it really even a tough decision?

meh, heat are a boring team to watch, not to mention the atmosphere sucks, went to three heat games last year and three fins and i definitely had a better time at the fins games even when we struggled (and basketball is my first love)...that being said, our fanbase at the games does suck, they aren't nearly loud enough and they aren't very knowledgeable, not to mention the steelers fans outnumbered us at their game, remember sitting next to 4 buffalo fans at the game last year and they had more football knowledge than most of the other fin fans I've conversed with at games combined, the fins have a great nationwide fan base but unfortunately the fans in miami are pretty terrible, no hate just being honest

You also have to remember that there is alot of things to do in Miami on sundays has oppsed to Pittsburgh or Buffalo.

blackouts dont determine if you have a ****ty fan base. Living your entire life in miami and dealing with the "fans" carries a tad bit more water.

We have the worst...

Look at the San Francisco Giants for an example of how winning cures all.

When the sucked balls from about 05-09, you could get a ticket whenever you wanted, the crowds were never too terrible (unless it was against the Dodgers), and you could buy tickets for rock bottom prices.

San Francisco's a pretty cool town. There's a ton to do around there other than watch a baseball game, etc.

Once they started winning though in the middle of 2010, crowds got bigger, more people took an interest in the team, and it was an actually loud place to watch a game again. Once they won the WS, they had a sellout at damn near every home game this season.

If you build a winner, a consistent winner, fans are going to come. Our team has been pretty miserable since the end of the 2003 season. Ticket prices have gone through the roof. Why go and buy an expensive ticket, an expensive parking pass, expensive beers, food, etc., just to go and sit and watch your team lose? The economy sucks, especially in South Florida, so I can't blame people that decide that going to a football game isn't the highest priority on their list.

If the team were winning, and had been for the last decade, I think you'd see a large fan base at every game.

Lost 11 of the last 12 home games, its a wonder how anybody goes to the game. They should be praising the fans who spend their hard earned money to watch this garbage.

Here we go again ........

Worry about the team and coach and players.

Leave the local fans out of this. They're gonna do what they are gonna do and don't give two ****s about what we think.

Don't gimme this **** that we have the worst fans in the league,

you hear of possible blackouts this year and you think we are the worst fans ever. Well let me ask you this? when was the last time we had a black out?

How about looking into when the last time there was blackouts in the NFL? Since your lazy *sses wont look ill just post it here in the last 10 years:

  • Eagles (2000)
  • Colts (2001)
  • Panthers (2002)
  • Seahawks (2002)
  • Saints (2004)
  • Cardinals (2005)
  • Falcons (2006)
  • Chiefs (2009)
  • Jaguars (2009)
  • Rams (2009)
  • Bengals (2010)
  • Bills (2010)
  • Chargers (2010)
  • Lions (2010)
  • Raiders (2010)
  • Buccaneers (2011)

So. Dont give me this garbage that we're the worst fan base around, every team has had ticket selling problems, at least our team hasnt had blackout in over a decade

F*** off critics

How many of those teams needed the local TV station or the team to buy remaining tickets so they could broadcast the games? That's the only reason why you haven't had a blackout.
