If somebody posted previously about this..I'm sorry. After watching the Phins/49ers game to it's entirety, I have a few comments about the way we played..
Some positives:
First, the defense played great in between the 20's and I can't say enough about them stepping up.. I think Y Bell is an animal out there.. the dude is everywhere. Linebackers did a good job in coverage and Joey Porter came up big when it counted.
Second, kudos to Chad for another mistake free game. He's the man, thank you Brett Favre, enough said...
Next, our WR's... Please dump Wilford.. i hate looking at him. I am not a Ted Ginn hater at all...but he had a key drop today and we're a better team when he's stretching the field and involved. Devone Bess is the man as well.. here is why he stands out imo as an undrafted player vs. the #9 pick Ginn .. I will never question his toughness. He had that 6 yard gain on the swing pass today.. he had nowheres to go and he put his head down and took the hit from 2 defenders fighting for extra yards.. I want to see more of that from Teddy.. he's much improved from last year, I like him and I truly believe he's going to improve but he won't be VERY productive until we get a true #1 WR imo.
The negatives:
How do you give Ronnie 10 touches.. UNREAL. I felt like we were totally off of our game plan today.. esp being up 14-3.. pound the rock enough to pick up manageable 3rd downs. When we went 3 and out like 3 times in a row.. I about lost it. I love Ricky too, but Ronnie is our work horse and I feel better when he has the rock.. We won't win when it counts if our offense is on the bench.
Second, where was the wildcat today? I felt like we could've gotten some key first downs running it, I was actually surprised when we ran it the one time for 10+ yards.. I'm fine with the traditional offense and realize it's been ineffective the last few games, but why not keep the defense guessing at times?
This team has gone above any expectations that I've had and I'm sure most of you have had for them.. I'm a happy fan and extremely excited about watching our Phins again. Go Phins!
