The Cowboys have lost another assistant coach on Tuesday and could see two more head out the door as well.

As expected, secondary coach Todd Bowles, whose contract expired on Tuesday, is off to Miami where he is expected to be named the Dolphins' defensive coordinator.

Other coaches whose contracts are up are linebackers coach Paul Pasqualoni and defensive line coach Kacy Rodgers.

Bowles said he has offers from other clubs, including a defensive assistant position in Washington, but said Tuesday as he was leaving for the airport that he will go to Miami and reunite with new head coach Tony Sparano, who had been on the Cowboys staff since 2003.

Bowles also said the familiarity with the Miami front office - vice president of football operations Bill Parcells, general manager Jeff Ireland and assistant director of player personnel Brian Gaine - was a determining factor in his decision.
What is interesting though is that it states he is coming to be the Defensive Coordinator. All other reports had Pasqualoni being named Defensive Coordinator and Bowles as Secondary/Assistant Head Coach.

the Dallas news is reporting the flip-flop as well

There is talk around the league that Sparano could hire Bowles as defensive coordinator and Pasqualoni as assistant head coach. Rogers is a respected defensive line coach and has worked with former Cowboys coach Bill Parcells, who is a Dolphins executive.

I thought it would be Pasqualoni as well, but I'd also heard that it could have gone to Bowles. I don't know enough about this guy to know if its a good move though.

I wonder if Bowles and Pasqualoni will be similar to Edwards and Muschamp? Co-defensive coordinators maybe?!?!?

so who's going to coach the cowboys next year after we take all their coaches?

anybody have an idea what kind of DC this guy should be? Wasnt crazy about the Dallas scheme this year

Well, I'm guessing this quickens the move to a 3-4, which I think we'll see this year or next. Interesting though, I believe he was their DB coach.

Thanks Josh. I heard it could go either way for a couple of weeks, but more and more lately they had Pasqualoni as the DC. The exodus continues as we all expected.
