Dante (CT): Todd, what do you think the Dolphins will do with the #1 pick? Who do you think they will select? How could they pass on Ryan?

Todd McShay: (12:26 PM ET ) I think it comes down to the following three players: QB Ryan, DE Long and OT Long -- assuming, of course, there's no trade. They need to decide on Beck first. If they think he can be a franchise QB moving forward, then it's one of the two Longs in my opinion.

Todd McShay: (12:27 PM ET ) The only reason I wouldn't include Dorsey/Ellis in that mix is because neither is an ideal fit in a 3-4, which I suspect they will use as their base defense. And you don't want to spend No. 1 overall money on a DL that will spend most his time occupying blockers.

Todd McShay: (12:29 PM ET ) FYI... Michigan OT Jake Long is the buzz in Indy right now. None of the groups has worked out yet, but Long measured in at 6-foot-7, 317 pounds with 11" hands and -- most importantly -- 35 3/4" arms... that's huge because it shows he has the reach to play LOT in the NFL.

Before anyone gets all crazy over this, I will post this reminder:

This is ESPN we're talking about. Yes, that ESPN. Grain of salt, grain of salt.

(not directing that to you for posting it TX)

I think the safest pick would be Chris Long as well, and I for one would be very happy if we did take him.

And i've been a big supporter of Dorsey too. I think long might not have the destructive upside that dorsey has, but were a team that needs a solid foundation on the line and Long provides that stability more than dorsey in my early opinion.

i hate picking safe with #1. we're going to regret it. someone's going to actually get the bpa and be happy with that player for a long time.

...and someone is going to get a bust and regret it for a long long time.

It's a crapshoot.

Frankly...Everything he wrote is true to date...at least it's what most known draft people are saying also...so a grain of salt isn't needed at this time...of course if you don't agree with him..thats O.K. also.

I say that because ESPN is without a doubt known to be the most flagrant of hype and bandwagon supporters. What Todd McShay or anyone working with or for ESPN says should be taken with a grain of salt due to their willingness to both manufacture and maintain hype on any sports topic they can.

Normally I would agree with you...but what is written there isn't any different than most opinon that I have read from numerous other sites...and afterall...it is just opinion.
