Interesting you brought up Bill Polian and Bobby Bethard. I was watching NFLN this morning and they were portraying the difficulties of dealing with the top pick and they had an excellent segment on Manning and Leaf. Bethard really wanted Manning as well but settled for Leaf and his describing the end result was a great watch. He talked of some of the BS Leaf put them through and it was as if I could feel the emotion coming out of him. Catch it if you get a chance.

I had seen something similar to that, Beathard was talking about how he was trying as hard as he could to get that no.1 pick and Manning was their choice the whole time, and they only went with Leaf because he Manning wasn't there.

The rest of the show I watched was talking more about QB drafts and about how when the Browns drafted Couch and the only reason they drafted him was because of the fan pressure and were really interested in Donovan Mcnabb, Akili Smith, and Daunte Culpepper.

I don't see anything wrong with grading a draft right now... obviously you are drafting it based on potential. I don't see the problem with that. I'd say we can grade it now, and we can give it a final grade in 3 years or so.

and as of right now, based on potential, I give us a really ****ing solid B+

The BS the players put the Evaluators through is why they evaluate in the first place- a good evalutaor sees through the player - and today Ireland still gets crap for asking probing questions to Dez B. and Dez with lil to no emotional intelligence - proved himself to the public why he was a poor choice -

That question was, well, really goddamn rude. Just because Dez Bryant is an idiot doesn't mean you should bring him in for an interview and ask him if his mom is a whore. Was the incident overblown? Yes. But it was still a dumb, dumb thing to say.

I don't understand the disdain for McShay, Kiper and Mayock at times. I really, REALLY like all 3. I think they are correct way more than they are wrong. It's a very inexact science but AT LEAST they do their homework and look at the film on all these kids. They know every single kid that's drafted.

With all the money teams send to Pro Days and the NFL Combine, I bet if you just took the "Best Available" player at a position of need from Kiper's "Top 10 Best Available" from Round 2 - on, you'd do as good as anyone. It's a crap shoot all the way around. There have been top 5 pick busts and there have been undrafted or very late round super stars.

Again, I really like listening to all those guys. It's close but they nit pick for the most part. I enjoy the entertainment.
