The Dolphins will give 2006 fourth-round pick Joe Toledo a shot to be their starting left guard this offseason.

Toledo missed his rookie year with a foot injury but is highly athletic and huge at 6-5/337. He'd seem to fit perfectly in Cam Cameron's offense.

I remember he was suppose to start at RG before getting injured. I like what the Fins are doing in this case because this is how the Chargers built their solid line.....

I hope he is a factor this year.

I think he should be. The kid is real athletic, played TE and LT in college. Defitnetly not small at 6-5 and 332 pounds, I think he should be a force to be reacond with. Hopefully opens up some big holes for us.Could be plugged in Goal Line stance as a TE......

i really like his upside. he has the size and of course saban liked him but that was saban! i read some articles on the guy and i think this is the right move hopefully he gets the job done for us in there!

That would be nice if he is able to work out at right guard. That's one of our biggest holes right now and if he can win the job hopefully that would give us one lest position to worry about. Also, if he can play there we can not draft Kalil and keep Hadnot at center. Plus he went to Washington.

Next years line:

RT...Carey,Alabi
RG...Hadnot,Liewenski
C...Samson Satele
LG..Toledo,Blaylock
LT..Doug Free,Gabe Hall

Shelton is traded

I have a question for all you guys, can Alabi be plugged in a RT and Carey moved to LT.Last Year Alabi played in the Bills game for Mcintosh and handled himself pretty well, I was thinking maybe swaping him with Carey or if not maybe plugging him at RG and giving Shelton another shot at LT.

They could possibly do that. LT and RT are two very different positions though, Carey finally came into his own last year as a RT though so why move him. Just my opinion.

2 questions

Why would we trade Shelton who has proven to form a very powerful tandem with Vernon Carey on the Right side of the line when we're already turning over the left side?

And who exactly is going to trade for a RG who's at a LT salary?

I'm adding a third question.

Why is he drafting Blaylock not to start? He would be a pretty low round pick, and should be part of our immediate plans if drafted.

It's all well and good to say we should trade a player, but I think a lot of people don't comprehend that it's not that simple. In real life (as opposed to Madden) trade talks are a grueling process that normally takes several days to weeks. The majority of players teams want to trade never get traded. They either end up getting cut or staying on the team and working out their contract. It's especially hard to move players with large contracts or contracts larger than that which their position deserves (I don't think deserves is the right word there but you know what I mean.) If we do find a trade partner for Shelton before the draft we'd still most likely have to work on a restructured contract before the move. And then there's the matter of getting more value for him in a trade than he's worth to us. If we think he's going to be a starter for us on the line next year, a position that is already depleted, why would we trade him for what would probably be a 4th rounder? I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but I just see so many trade x player posts and have to wonder if people actually took the time to consider the reality of the NFL and the trade process before posting.

Guys:

Alabi did not handle himself well in the Buffalo game. He gave up a sack on his first play, and was completely dominated by Schobel. It wasn't even close to a competition. I am not saying Alabi hasn't improved, I don't know that, but I do know that he did not play well in the Buffalo game. I am not comfortable with him as the LT. That position is critical.

I don't have a perfect solution to the LT issue. I like L. Brown or Staley, but I would ratheer draft Quinn if that is possible. But, if Quinn is unavailable, I think L. Brown or Staley is a must have.

I agree. Plus he showed problems with handling the best DEs in the league and a slow first pivot step. I like him at RT and drafting a LT in the second round.
