this pick troubles me three-fold:1:he is a tight end turned lineman, which is why i didn't like eric winston too. offensive linemen are born that way if you ask me. 2:he is oft injured. seems from his little analysis that he kept going down. even more troubling is that they were different injuries. having one recurring injury is one thing, but when you go down with different injuries isn't good. 3:what's with the name? maybe him and rex hadnot will co-star in a porno.

I was listening to ya until u came out with the name crud. nuff said.

Toledo sounds like a cross between Wade Smith (ex-TE) and Anthony Alabi (project for Houck). One hopes one of these guys hits big for us!

I think a tight end converted to a lineman is great!
If he was a tight end it shows he has a little more agility in his feet, think about it a tight end is a lineman that can run routes and has good hands. Sweet feet and good hand work is paramount for a good left tackle (which I'm not saying he will be.)
I also like the fact that no one seems to have heard of this kid before. When a complete stranger shows up it leads me to believe that Houck himself went and scouted him, liked what he saw, and told Saban he had to be drafted. After all, wasn't Anthony Alibi (who!?) drafted in the fifth round last year under those circumstances?

From what I have heard he is young and inexperienced. But is big and has the physical features needed. Sounds like a Houck project to me.

so, the guys name has an affect on what kind of player he can be?

but look at him

I think Houck gets one project lineman per draft. It sure seems like he says to saban, "I can turn this guy into a stud" and saban picks the player.

We can line up at TE in short yardage and that way the defence has to stay honest because he's a threat to get open but he can also block like a lineman.

you also might have to think about him being in on two TE sets. McMike isnt the best blocker in the world and saban knows randy is at his best when he is out on a route. toledo will be good to have on the backside to block, plus the defense never knows if he could leak out in to the flats or a little curl over the middle.... i think he brings some options that our offense can potentially do.
