"Brady's contract runs through 2017, but if Garoppolo continues to develop at his current pace, the Patriots will need to make a decision much sooner than that.

The Patriots very recently reminded fans that there's no room for sentiment when it comes to doing what's best for the long-term health of the franchise.

"Logan Mankins gave me a quick refresher that when the backup can nearly approximate what the starter is doing, the Patriots are going to pull that ripcord," says Curran.

The clock is ticking. "

Garoppolo could be a pro bowler his entire career and still won't be anywhere near as good as Brady so if NE wants to move on I'm all for it.

Eh.... I think it's a bit different when the face of the team is about to get traded or cut.

Pro Bowl O-line sure, bit of a shock but you move on.

Tom Brady? HOF? Top 5 QB All-Time? Mr. Patriot, etc etc....

The fan backlash will be monumental if they cut him.

Brady is the type that walks away on his own term. Would be like the Yankees cutting Derek Jeter or something.

Pats I'm sure hope Brady walks away before he is a former shell of himself. But I don't see the Pats making a move without Tom Brady walking away.

... Thank you, Captain Obvious.

Seriously, given Brady's age, isn't this something that is likely to happen anyway. I don't really need a sports columnist to point that out. And even if he winds up being wrong, who's gonna remember 3 that years from now? ... What an edgy prognosticator. Can't wait to not click on his work some more.

2017 Brady will be 40.

So saying he will be out before 2017?

Ok so he walks away in 2016 at the age of 39.

:idk:

Bold prediction huh, out at 40+. Brady said it best yesterday on radio...he said he will stop playing when he "sucks", and right now he "doesn't suck". So I will believe we will have to deal with him until he sucks, my prediction 2 maybe 3 more years max.

not sure why this would come as a surprise...brady will be like 40 by then...i think it's more after 2015 season they part

They sure moved on from Drew Bledsoe in a hurry.

Also, if Vollmer moves to Guard before our game...AWESOME! Vollmer has done a heck of a job against Wake, if Wake was to face someone else that would benefit us.

I said it after NE lost to Denver and I am still sticking to it, I believe he calls it quits after this season.

Drew Bledsoe was not Tom Brady. Bledsoe at his best wasn't as good as Tom at his worst.

I hope that comes true but I will be completely shocked(barring a disastrous injury).
