Tom Gamble Turns Down Miami Dolphins, Focuses On His Father

Nope. It rings very true that gamble would rather focus on his father than to spend the time it'll take to do job interviews and then eventual rebuilding of an entire franchise.

His dad is supposedly in hospice care. :(

I think that that's also why the 49ers let him return to Philly. They didn't have to do that.

While I do think that Ross should have cleaned house to allow an elite personnel guy to come in, I am also reminded that we have had "the best before" in Jimmy, Saban and the Tuna...maybe finding a young, hard working executive is the path to lead them back to relevance.

Gamble not coming here has nothing to do with whether or not the house was cleaned.

I had to put my dad into hospice - after being in denial and under threats from some of his doctors. It was a heartbreaking traumatic decision and experience involving second-guessing, regret and some guilt not to mention spending every available time there as possible knowing that it was rapidly drawing to an end. Gamble is making the correct decision.

If he wants to stay in Philly because his dad is sick then there's nothing left to be said. Let those who hate the Dolphins blame Philbin for this anyway.

ahhh the proverbial "NFL Sources" or "NFL Insiders" say.... I tell you there is more BS floating around out there than reality. We all like to think that this stuff leaks out. Well it doesn't most of the time. It usually starts with a place like our FinHeaven where some member starts with "I can't tell you who my source is but..." and then give some amazing conspiracy or smokey back room story. As this article says the rumors about the power struggle in Davie being an issue were "false". To me that is the biggest story in that article, meaning most of the BS you are hearing is simply not true.

You would agree though that without the house cleaned there is no shot anyways?

Don't blame him one bit. His focus should be on his dad right now.

Right on. We looked liked the big winners a few years ago after the Tuna turned down Atlanta for the Fins. Atlanta hired some unknown dude from New England's front office named Thomas Dimitroff instead. I'd say that's worked out okay for them.

I hope they get a grinder that works the draft draft board and understands value and fit in FA. Some of these candidates that have worked in the trenches might be right what the Fins need.

Agree. You have people like Florio that keep pounding the table about how it’s all about the power struggle and dysfunction..plays off Armando and it all spreads like wildfire and it becomes gospel. A few people have declined to interview for the GM position, but I think it’s a little presumptuous to assume it’s just because of the structure. Also are we 100% sure that Ross would not consider other front office etc. moves if it was absolutely required as a condition of employment to get what he thought was the best possible GM?
