Dungy's response is in bold.

“@D_Seneriz: @TonyDungy working w D. Hickey in TB, whats ur take on the Dolphins hire?” D. Hickey is a very good FB man. Dolphins did well!

Just another opinion to put on the pile. Obviously most of the responses have been negative, but there are some positive ones out there. Including this one from Dungy who worked with Hickey in the past.

It's not the hiring that most are upset by, it's the process behind the hiring.
It's the failure to get our top 4-6, failure to clearly communicate org structure, failure to look stand by their word (not a GM now, but the best GM), etc etc etc.

I absolutely loathe this team some times.

What else would he say? "No comment"? He's Tony frickin' Dungy...

He didn't have to respond to the question at all.

Oh definitely, I am not sure there is really anyone that is defending the hiring process. It was a disaster and we ended up with a guy way down the list. With that said, Hickey was the choice and now is the best time to start learning about him. I do respect the opinions more of people that actually worked with these people on a daily basis instead of fans who have an outside look of the situation. It is sort of how Dolfans grouped Gaine in with Ireland and I am sure for the most part Buccaneer fans are grouping Hickey in with Dominik.

Now, don't get me wrong, I don't love this hire at all. I am though willing to give it a chance and I am hoping for the best.

I hope Dungy's right, and that's pretty much all we can do at this point. Dennis Hickey is the new GM of our Miami Dolphins. Let's give him a chance and see what he does and can do, and hope he's up to the task of turning this team into winners.

Tony just did Steve Ross a solid.

We'll see. You're right that he didn't have to say anything, but this endorsement means nothing to me.

Dungy is too classy to say otherwise, but I like the comment nonetheless.

Hey, it's something!

I don't know enough about Hickey, but being the runt of the litter might make him a bit hungrier than most for success.

I'm still interested to hear how this whole thing came down. Too many oddities for me....especially with Cesario.

Tony has always been too classy to say anything negative like that. True he didn't have to say anything but that in and of it self would have spoken volumes. In the end it is kind of like being at the funeral of a scumbag and hearing people say what a good man he was. That is the feeling I have after listening to this. I hope we are all wrong though in the end.

I wrote in another thread how this hire prob had a something to do with Tony Dungy's input, since Ross values his input
