Even if Lippet doesn't play a whole lot this year as he develops and adjusts to the NFL, he could be huge next year. He's big, and with Grimes' fat contract, Brent could be released and it would be nice to have someone there to step in. So next year a secondary of Taylor, Lippet, McCain, McCain at CB could be what we're looking at, with W Davis in the wings. We're going to need his size to cover Sammie Watkins and Brandon Marshall four games a year as well.

Early days but occasionally a player comes along who significantly exceeds expectations. We know that Lippett is tall and has very good hands, but it's great to see that he's doing well on the field right from the start. He was a productive WR at a top college - Michigan State. The decision to change positions and play as a CB was pretty unusual and came late in his college career but he could be a bit of an unpolished diamond with pretty big upside. Defensive Coordinator, Kevin Coyle gets regularly bashed on FH, but he has a pretty good track record of developing CB talent (even before he came to Miami). Lippett may have the talent to make it in the NFL. Full marks to Dennis Hickey for investing a late round draft pick.

You should never get excited about OTA stats, but 3 picks for a guy who was a WR and is being forced to learn a new position at the NFL level, that's at least a little bit impressive.

If this guy becomes a legit cornerback, whoever fought for this guy in the scouting room is going to deserve a lot of praise.

I'm excited about this kid. I know it's only OTA's but if he pans out there is more than just CB potential here, hell make him a dual threat and line him up in the redzone.

Sam Shields 2.0?

Nawh, Sam is a burner. Whereas, Lippett is not! I'm genuinely afraid this is the part of his game that will be exploited.

It's OTAs, people. Chill. Will Davis was a training camp star as a rookie and did nothing but get toasted in games.

That said, it's encouraging that he's flashing already. But expect his rookie season to be a "red shirt" season on practice squad.

I don't think anyone has hyped him this thread...in fact most are treating it with a very cautious optimism.

If he got them off of Freeman they don't count....Freeman was terrible before he was out of the league a couple of yrs.....lets wait until he is doing this in preseason games and against the starters in live contact practices.....i'm not impressed yet......

I thought he changed positions from CB to WR, and that was mostly because they were hurting at WR, not because he sucked at CB. Could be wrong on that though.
