“I just want to see better play," the coach said Thursday. "I want to see [fewer] sacks. I want to see [fewer] minus plays. I want to see more of us on the other side of the line of scrimmage. I want to see us finish blocks, do some of these things that are necessary for us to win, and that is something they can do."

When he was in Dallas coaching players such as Flozell Adams, Leonard Davis and Andre Gurode, Sparano believed his unit determined the destiny of the team. Those guys could take over games.

The coach wants the same from the Miami offensive line.

"I told you before, I believe a line, a good line, can take over a game, can be the personality of a team," Sparano said, "and that’s what I would like to see out of that group.”

He's right. But it's real tough when you put 1 WR on the field who warants nothing more than man to man coverage and put everyone else in tight.

Not going to happen with these offensive linemen and blocking schemes and philosophy. I don't see it from the conventional offense. We need a new OL coach and Smiley has got to go.

Smiley is legit when healthy.. Look at the first few weeks..
He is one of the best pulling guards in the league.. His pass blocking is not great but no one on this line is good in that category except maybe Carrey

I agree, Carey has been our only consistent pass blocker. This OL is getting paid like one of the best but only performing middle of the pack. We have the potential to be a lot better up front.

I hope we start to see how good this OL can be in the second half of the season.

They need time!!!!!

J.Long is in his 2nd year, D.Thomas is essentially a rookie, J.Groves is new to our system and has now had three QB's this year, Smiley is really in the same spot as Groves because he sat out most of last year and Carey is the only consistant one. Let these guys jel together and we have an excellent Oline for years to come.

I agree with him. The Oline determines the offense (mostly). If your oline can't block...you get sacks an very little completions. None for log passes since they don't have time. Your oline opens up holes for the RBs. No holes, no running game.
Look at the stats for the past two games for our offense (vs Jets and Pats). See the low output of yardage?
