Too many passes to Jarvis Landry? His yards per catch is really low..

Looking at our top 4 WRs (by yards), we have..

- Jarvis Landry: 89 catches, 10.3 yds per catch

- Rishard Matthews: 43 catches, 15.4 yds per catch

- Kenny Stills: 22 catches, 17.8 yds per catch

- DeVante Parker: 13 catches, 16.0 yds per catch

As you can see, Jarvis Landry has a very low 10.3 yds per catch.

Then looking at the NFL's top 32 receivers (by yards), and you'll see that Jarvis Landry's 10.3 yds per catch is the absolute lowest. Dead last.

Something curious: the other NFL team that has their leading WR with a similar low yds per catch average is Philadelphia (Jordan Matthews, 10.6 yds per catch). And we run a similar offense to Philadelphia (Chip Kelly, Bill Lazor offensive scheme).

Jarvis Landry is a great slot receiver. But maybe we throw the ball to him too much, which is limiting the offense.

No.... this is the must absurd stat! Landry is AMAZING at making defenders miss the first tackle and gaining lots of YARDS AFTER CATCH. Actually he is the SECOND WR in the entire NFL (only behind Odell Beckham) in yards after catch per catch, he is not the one to blame for catching the ball 90% of the time 1 or 2 yards away from the LOS. It is the design of the plays and that Ryan Tannehill throws to him a LOT in those situations because it is EASIER to throw those short passes than trying to find him on middle range throws. If it was another system AND another QB throwing him the ball, you would see his YPC being in the TOP 5 of the league. Don't make a mistake, there are a LOT of problems on this team. You can blame the OL, the OC, the TE's, the QB and the system, but LANDRY is the BEST playmaker we have on offense and the only problema he has is that he can't hide his frustration from being such a miss match and being so poorly used because of the scheme and the QB.

Wow...the slot receiver has the lowest YPC...image that! LOL...

Imagine if Landry wasnt so great after the catch. Easily could be a single digit average.

He averages 5.4 yac, I wouldn't call that great.

Considering that is more than double the yardage from when he catches the ball . . . Its pretty darn good. He doesnt get the opportunities for the down the field easy YAC.

I don't think Kenny Stills can get open unless guarded by nickel corners and linebackers.

No he's not second in the entire NFL

Landry is 4th among wide receivers in TOTAL yards after catch and 6th among all players
Beckham...525
Jones...521
Brown...498
Landry...482

As for yards after catch per reception among wide receivers with at least 30 reception
1-Martavis Bryant 7.4 yac per reception avg
2-Tavon Austin 6.5
3-Cole Beasley 6.4
4-Odell Beckham Jr. 6.2
5-James Jones 6.1
6-Brandon LaFell 5.9
7-Kenny Britt 5.9
8-Steve Johnson 5.9
9-Allen Hurns 5.9
10-T.Y. Hilton 5.9
11-Amari Cooper 5.9
12-Golden Tate 5.9
13-Stefon Diggs 5.8
14-Randall Cobb 5.8
15-Richard Matthews 5.7
16-Steve Smith . 5.6
17-Doug Baldwin 5.6
18-John Brown 5.5
19-Willie Snead 5.4
20-Jarvis Landry...5.4 is still very good but not second

Got to love how #2 on your list was used last night, great game plan and his speed is ridiculous.

I don't have any problem with his low yardage but the 18 targets in last game was a little too much for me. If the ran the ball that many times maybe we would have won.

The first thing Miami's new OC needs to do in 2016 Is get rid of those Bubble Screens to Landry. He is not elusive enough to fool the other teams defense. In order to consistently be successful with that throw/catch the receiver needs the type of quickness/speed of a Dion Lewis type of back.
