Arent we a little stacked at the TE position? Randy McMichael, Teyo Johnson, Alex Holmes, and now Justin Peele. Why do you think Saban is grabbing all these TE's?

Yes, this is quite strange. I thought we already had a solid back up with Teyo Johnson. I'm guessing we r bringing in others for competition and to use as blockers. Randy and Teyo are receivers, not blockers.

Check out how New England does it

For the past few years, I believe they had Ben Watson, Daniel Graham, and Christrian Fauria on the roster at the same time and they all played! It wouldn't surprise me to see Nick trade down in the first, pick up a second-rounder, and Leonard Pope (a 6' 7" SEC product) along the way. Imagine defenses trying to defend a Culpepper-led offense featuring a two-tightend set of McMichael and Pope with Chambers and Booker at wideout and Brown or Williams (if he's not suspended) in the backfield. Absolutely frightening!

I agree. That would be quite frightening to have 5 sets of quality hands on the field with a mobile QB at the helm.

Peelle and Teyo are competing for the backup job. Holmes and Rader are competing for the third-string job. The loser in each competition will be gone by the end of training camp.

Teyo Johnson has been a disappointment and this may be his last chance before he is out of the league...

Justin Peele is a backup tightend...

Alex Holmes barely made the team last year...

I hardly think we are secure at this position....

Saban wants to get a couple receiving tight ends and a couple blocking tight ends to run different formations...he is hoping he can get lucky and maybe hit on one of these lesser talents...

All Around TE:
Randy Mcmichael

Receiving TE
