Florida Times-Union (registration required): "The Jaguars could be in the running for free-agent linebacker Lavar Arrington if his price tag comes down.".........................seems to me, although they have alot of cap room, they are unwilling to spend the cash.....which makes us both unwilling to give him what hes asking.....so its going to prolly boil down to which city he likes, which coach, which scheme, who has a better chance to win......these weeekend visits to JAX and Miami are most likely to again evaluate what team he likes better, because he realizes he isnt gettin the money he wants...look for him to sign somewhere by monday-go phins

When Peterson got signed for the amount he did, it virtually put paid to us getting Lavar. Sad but true. I think we should be thinking about who else we can get now and forget about Arrington.

What's the the slang (or simply just incorrectly spelled?) titles as of late? Makes it harder to read when you're skimming down the list. ??

no arrington!

Arrington is not worth the big money he'll be asking for....he makes big plays, but he is also always out of position, the same way seau used to be. And he's horrible in pass coverage. This is a bad move if it happens...

i think that the 2 places he would like to end up are in miami or with the giants...hopefully it'll be in miami...we would than be all set at lb...

Consistent reports are saying Jacksonville or Miami...Mortenson (ESPN), Schefter (NFL Network) etc

The only way we should consider going after him is if the price tag continues to drop....which it sounds like it is...He may get Peterson type numbers, but it could be structured in a way that protects our team...Remember, Mueller structured Ricky's contract!!!! It was the only leverage we had when Ricky walked out on us...

i hope we can give him a contract that is backloaded and not crazy guaranteed money...we can always redo the contract...

I wud take Lavar. Hes supposed to be a free-lancing LB whos undisciplined but if Saban wants him more position orientated then Arrington will know whats expected of him and he will succumb to Sabans wishes. Im sure Saban knows what hes doing.in regards to what he wants. Still dont think we'll get him tho.

too much doe for anyone, if Marvin Lewis and Greg Williams couldn't coach him, who can? It's well known that he refuses to play the schemes that are implemented and free lances too much, constantly getting caught out of position. No way pay him the kind of money he is asking.

have to admit i didnt get that bit either. Future HOF'ers dont play out of position. Seau knows LB spot better than ANYBODY.

Lets not forget though that is something that is coachable...

Easy on the Seau bashing, he's a stud and could be a consideration still if we can't find an OLB in FA or draft.

This is very true but, I'm sure Saban knows this, and I'm sure he'll utalize Lavar to his strengths. Such as rushing the passer and not droping back to cover a RB or TE.

as a side not, Marvin Lewis was actually gauging Arrington, and he (LA) was in Cincy for a visit a few weeks ago.
