This should be interesting. Perhaps should even help us appreciate what we had and what we have now.
First off I am from Buffalo born and raised.however hated the Bills.why you ask did I not route for my home town team?well that's simple Dan Marino.i grew up during his career and watched him destroy teams.i was hooked a Buffalo Dolphins fan.To get back to my TOPIC I will leave my top 5 Dolphins Qb's
1 Marino
2 Greise
3 Tanenhill
4 Fiedler
5 Pennington

Hmm.

This is an interesting question. Pennington had one good season. If that is the criterion, then Scott Mitchell deserves conversation.

Others:

Earl Morall
Don Strock

Marino
Griese
Morral
Strock
Woodley

Please tell me you are not seriously saying that Strock or Woodley deserve mention over Tannehill.

*I* could have gotten Miami to the Super Bowl with that defense in 1982. And I was 12.

Sorry, I didn't realize Op was asking for The Goat's top 5 QBs.

Lots to choose from. The top two are easy ... after that it's mostly preference.

1. Dan Marino - Greatest QB of All time
2. Bob Griese - Hall of Famer
3. Don Strock - I realize that few will agree with me, but wow could he sling it, and he was a heck of a mentor for Dan Marino
4. Earl Morrall - Not really the greatest QB, but he played well and manned the ship for most of the Undefeated Season because Griese went down. When he was replaced late he never complained, but did what the team required. It must have been tough to be such a good QB and have to play behind Johnny Unitas as a youngster then behind Bob Griese as a veteran, and never complaining. Talent-wise he may not deserve this ranking, but he really earned my respect.
5. Ryan Tannehill - Still not the fiery leader I'd like, and still not quite as clutch as I'd like, but he is definitely the toughest QB I've ever seen, Dolphin or not. Accurate, strong arm, good athlete, great person, smart guy, and has a long list of superlatives ... but I still feel he simply hasn't fulfilled his high potential.

The Dolphins franchise has been blessed. IMHO, we have the greatest of all time at QB (Dan Marino), FB (Larry Csonka), C (Dwight Stephenson) and Coach (Don Shula). Our team of greatest ever players could rival any franchise.

And IMHO, it's about damned time the Dolphins returned to our rightful spot atop the division and challenging for Super Bowls. Enter Gase, the next great Coach.

That's the great thing about an open forum, is that more than one person can see your opinion. And the OP was asking for mine. And yours. And everyone's.

If you wanted to reply directly to the OP WITHOUT making your opinion public, you can send him a private message.

If you need help, I can show you how.

For what it's worth, and I welcome debate:

Marino
Griese
Tannehill
Morall
Fiedler

Strock is really, really close. But I'd almost consider him a coach.

Stock
16 years only 45 tds thrown and 5,300passing yards.
Not on my list

As of today, I think Digital's list is spot on.

See, here's the trouble I see with Strock as a top 5 QB:

He threw less than 600 passes. In his Dolphins career.

One of the most IMPORTANT Dolphins ever? Sure. But top 5 QB? Ehhhhhh....

1. Marino - favorite athlete of all time
2. Griese - never got to see him play but he's a HOF
3. Tannehill - I think he will continue to win over his oranges
4. Wood-Strock - if anyone argues that they're two different QB's then we can step outside the forum
5. Sage Rosenfels - never got over my man crush for Sage. Not the most objective way to end my list
