Top 5 DT/NT specifically for a 3-4?

I was just wondering if I could get some input on the Top 5 NT in the draft this year?? I dotn watch a lot of college but I know the popular players. Obviously Suh and McCoy are the top DT but they are 4-3 player not 3-4.

I think its safe to say Terrence Cody is the #1 NT in the 3-4, but who is after him?

I think the Dolphins will throw some heavy consideration upon Jared Odrick. I'm still not convinced Dan Williams will come into the #12 discussion, though I understand hooshoops is firmly on board.

IMO Jared Odrick was probably the best DT in the nation last year not named Suh, he played at such a high level.

Though I don't think he's a 3-4 NT, then again... he's about the same size as Jay Ratliff...

Cody might not even be drafted in the 2nd round,and he is not the #1 3-4 NT.....not even close...Dan Williams(6'3",327) has hass the elements,as well as the body frame,strength and athletism to be an elite 3-4 NT.

Terrance Cody, it seems, is difficult to motivate. They project him as only a two down player. I would imagine these coaches aren't going to use a #12 pick on a 2 down player. Not to mention he is tall and when he gets tired the reports i have read say he gets too high and loses his leverage and gets beat by guys who should never beat him.
My feeling is that he is lazy and unmotivated to become better and more athletic at his position. He is 365 and many scouts believe he should be playing at around 340.
Sound like someone else we know? Yeh that sounds just like Paul Soliai doesn't it?

Ferguson is, i think, around 6'2" and 315 and i am guessing they will try to find someone in his mold. I think this because BP has dragged this guy to three different teams to play for him, so to BP i am guessing this recipe is successful for a NT.

I've always been very leery of Cody. I was impressed with his playing time at times this year, and he really does dominate, but it takes more than that to be a great pro and I have definitely seen him be gassed in the fourth quarter.

ok...but you do realize i was referring to dan williams being in the #16-25 range...

cody imo isn't someone i'd use a 1st rounder on...at #43 i think i might...if he keeps the weight off from the bowl game to the senior bowl and combine...if he balloons forget about it

i agree with all of you guys on cody.no way does he handle the heat down here at 360 to 380.i hope he is not a dolphin unless its in the 3rd round,and maybe not even then.

D. Williams would be great for us if he fell to the 2nd, but I don't see that happening. I pretty much agree with CK on Cody. I'd be weary of drafting him even in the 2nd - unless it were in a trade-down situation.

After those two, though, I don't see anyone I'd take before RD 4.

Very few NT's are drafted in the first round. Wilfok is really the only one that I can think of. Some will say Ngata, but he really is a DE in Balt's 3-4 70% of the time Kelly Gregg in the true NT. NT's have to have a blue collar mentality and accept that they are not going to get a lot of recognition. Players drafted in the first round are less accepting of that role. Plus many of the NT's are 2 down players. It is hard to commit big money to players that are playing 50% of the defensive snaps. I think MIA would be much better off waitng until rds 2-5 to find their potenital NT of the future and I would not be surprised if they didnt draft a pair (as is the norm with the trifecta) with the possibility of one of them doubling as an option at DE similar to McDaniel or Baker.

Jay Ross
Terrell Troup
Boo Robinson

And a guy that I think the trifecta will love Dan Neal a Ratliff clone from Purdue. However, I would caution everyone Ratliff was drafted primarily as a 3-4 DE and Parcells lucked out in his ability to play NT when they lost ferguson to injury.
