Ok first off, when I say "Dolphins" I mean players and coaches. I have pondered this and I have come up with the following List. Some are very obvious, some may surprise you. I think it is fair and most Dolfans would agree.

1. Don Shula. An icon, probably Mr Dolphin himself. Many reasons why he is 1. He was the face of the francise for forever, won 2 championships, was the author of the perfect season, and will go down as One of the top coaches ever. A true Hall Of Famer.

2. Dan Marino. Another easy one, he was seriously considered for the top spot, but Shula edged him out. Simply the greatest QB ever,a leader, a Hall of Famer. A Superbowl Title eluded him (not his fault.) but put him on the 49ers or Cowboys and he may have had 5 rings.

3. Larry Csonka. Another Hall of Famer and maybe the greatest FB ever. Was the cover boy for the Superbowl Teams and the greatest Dolphin fb/rb ever. To this day you can go to a Fins game and still see #39 jerseys in the stands. Another easy choice.

4. Dwight Stevenson. It gets a bit tougher here and Jim Langer merited serious consideration for this spot. Has been called one of the Greatest centers ever. I can still see him destroying William "refrigerator" Perry in that classic Monday Night game. Another Hall Of Famer.

5. Zach Thomas. So many other great players but Zach gets this spot. Tough, consistant, team orientated, unselfsh. Voted to 6 Probowls which is a Dolphin defensive player record. Mark him down for 100 plus tackles every year and several big plays. I think he is a Hall of Famer.

Ok those are my top 5. What do you guys think?:dolphins:

i think thats a damn fine list u got right there.

Ok this is just some quick tought off the top of my head

1. Dan Marino- Just a legend

2. Don Shula- See above

3. Larry Csonka- Just too crazy and awesome not ot be included

4. Nick Buonocconti(definite sp. mess up there:tounge:)- the heart and soul of the no name defense.

5. Tie between many players: Z Thomas, Jake Scott, Bob Griesie, Marks Brothers, Jason Taylor, Manny Fernandaz and i could go on for days.

You guys are forgetting John Offerdahl, while his career was cut short by injuries, he was in the mold of a zach thomas as far as playing smart and full of heart.

I dont mean this in a negative way, because I like your list (Especially #1, #2, #3).

But having no member of the No-Name defense in the top 5 is sad/funny to me. They really were a bunch of No-Names that dominated but get zero respect.

Plus for me, while I love Zach, its hard to pick any modern/current player only since no Championships (AFC or SB) come with that choice.

I think for #4 you put the entire 1972/73 undefeated Team.

At #5 perhaps the entire No Name Defense.

Agreed! nice list.......if I could add I would "super" Duper just because I liked him soooo much and he was awesome!

1. Dan Marino
2. Don Shula
3. Larry Csonka
4. Dwight Stephenson
5. Larry Little

There are too many to list!!!

Just wondering: How many Dolphins are in the HOF? And how many current players do you guys think will make the HOF?

I think Zach and JT have a decent shot. I think they'll get at least ballot recognition. Thoughts?

every player we have named has been an amzing dolphin. besides dan, shula, and czonka, i believe it is up in the air for the next best 2. you could almost say clayton annd duper for catching all marinos touchdowns. morris and kick were also stud runningbacks for the dolphins. there are so many stud players that it is so tough to make an all time top 5.

...i know u said only coaches/players...but I think you have to include Joe Robbie - owner.

duriel harris, nat moore, jake scott, joe rose just to name a few. would have to give this some thought. what if it was 5 top offense and 5 top defense.?

I think they need at least one ring to get in...
